and the world just keeps on keepin’ on, and I’m stuck in the armpit of Kentuck and wondering where the end of the tunnel truly resides. I’m pissed, I’m frustrated in my attempt to administer THREE lives; only two of which are mine. One was self induced financial madness, one was acquired legal hoops and neglect, and the other is my Da’s. And I’m looking at the world going “what the holy fuck is this shit?!?!?!” Prices through the roof, multiple verifications needed to fart with permission, politicos that are legally dead presiding over votes pre-midterm and a madman living in an echo chamber of yes-men and blackmail artists.
One bite at a time. I keep telling myself that. Somedays it helps. Other day I just wanna burn the whole thing to the ground, grab Lyssa and gear and GO,GO,GO!!!
Grab another fork full, chew slowly, chase with a shot of 100proof.
Patience
That was written while on the line with one of three help desks today. All three for one (technically one) issue. 2 hours of me Sonday eliminated forever,
BUT
The issue is now mostly resolved. Da has a celly available for 30 days, a landline as long as he keeps internet, and his online account to the latter is now cleaned up and accessible again. That should make future calls to HD not needed or much smoother.
The Celly thing: he’s promised us kids to at least try to adapt. He has till Oct21 to do so. If He wants to keep then, I can re-up the plan. If no, let the bloody thing collapse in a heap, and I take my backup phone back.
‘Its just a jump to the left’

Back when tech was mechanical and the phones were chained to the walls,,,
I do miss the 80’s, and we really had zero idea just how good we had it. Yet we heard the sirens call of ‘tech will make things easier’ and followed like the children of Hamelin followed a Peid Piper.
Did things get easier? Totally an arguable point and highly subjective to how smooth your personal tech is cooperating this week.
I think I can say, our stresses are higher for it: with or without that tech cooperation.
Sigh. Miss it all, I do,,,,
But, I have three more large chunk of elephant removed from the plate, and so long as they dont come back to haunt as indigestion,,,, keep chewin’! That elephant aint gone yet.
LLLLL!!!

I was an early adopter of technology. Used to have a palm pilot. My first cell phone was a looong time ago. I used to run a computer very well. But the whole big brother thing burned me out thoroughly. All those targeted ads convinced me that technology is a trap! I feel you about burning it down… If I wasn’t married I’d sell all the crap off, buy a better camper and drift from campground to campground. If my wife dies first I will. All I really need is a couple of guns, fishing poles, my canoe and a roadworthy camper. And a couple days head start! They’ll never find me again.
But that’s not the path I’m supposed to be on so I’ll keep the leash and collar for now.
My wife and I downsized a couple of times to traveling weight. But God had a different plan. I sure am glad I traveled when I was young. I still miss the road but at least I can say I’ve seen the country.
Regarding your Da, it’s good that he’s got y’all to look out for him. I’ve seen old folks that didn’t have anybody, family or friends. It ain’t pretty…
peace out

Yah, I’ve seen the elderly withhout support of family, and it ain’t pretty. Da may make me cuss a blue storm, but I wouldn’t abandon him to that fate. The higher powers may have a thing to say about that, but it won’t be by my choice, thats certain.
I was that gypsy at one point, and I do miss it, and I completely understand what you are saying about ‘base load’: enough for a base camp and we’z rollin’! LOL I miss it and loathe it. I have too many tools these days that I would dread parting ways with to unload enough to play like that. But, as you said “a couple days head start”,,, Da passes on, I may lose my mind for a spell and do just that. or not,
