Avoidance issues
I’m tryin’ like heck to stay away from the world mess. Apologies to all if you found my two small forays into the goings on, offensive. Believe me, there is so much more I could add to things, and my opinions aren’t exactly ‘nice’ towards certain groups,,, So I just shut my trap and watch as it all unfolds.
There may come a point in the future, where I just walk into the sunset and turn my back on things. I know what that point is, but currently, well, shit, NO ONE KNOWS what road we are going to trip and fall onto.
I want to talk about other things, self sufficient things, independent things, but finding the best approach without slapping you in the face with tons of information you can’t practically use in your situation. Thats not my style. I want you in a better situation than you are in, but I can’t isolate and expand on EVERY scenario. Like buiilding the rocket stove heater for homes. Every home and location is going to require different materials and designs, and I’m no expert on this stuff. For ‘experts’, you need to go to Permies and other outlets that are frequently experimenting. Dive deep and be willing to play with what you learn before you commit to it. More importantly, THINK outside the box of Regulations and Building Codes. Personally, I don’t think that much of that is going to be such an issue in the next 10 years. I could be wrong and sort of hope I am. Only sort of as I would like to see things getting a bit more relaxed, but not at the expense of the modern world collapsing.
Ok,,, follow along as you can or want. Lets talk about REALITY. There are certain things every one NEEDS. many things we desire, but the NEEDS are going to be the focus. Water, Heat, Shelter, Food. That order is not set in stone with the exception of water. That MUST be the priority in all situations, be it survival or just living a life. Clean water obviously, though if you have a steady source of clear questionable stuff, you have options. Collecting it into something where you can readily access it is your second concern Cisterns, holding tanks, water barrels, whatever, so long as you can access them, and keep them clean. Transporting the water may be buckets or plumbing, it all depends on you, your resources and TIME,,, Always that time thing,,,
Heat is more confusing,,, COMFORT might be the more apropo term here, and keeping that in mind, SHELTER takes second place with comfort drawing third. The Real point of shelter being DRY and out of the ELEMENTS. Comfort levels are going to be dependent on those two factors FIRST, heat (or staying cool) comes second. If you have a home already, look around at how its built and examine how it was made with ‘out of the elements’ FIRST, with comfort coming in second place. Look at our modern HVAC equipment that requires so much energy to maintain an internal environment. The world hasn’t shifted so much in 100 years, and people dealt with much the same conditions we deal with now, and were able to keep homes warm or cool without modern heatpumps: research those methods. And I’ll bet ya a steel penny that they are much cheaper and more reliable than that $8000 heat pump going on the fritz that requires hundreds of kilowatts to run. You might be able to incorporate them into existing structures (and likely skip the permit process so long as you keep your nose clean and mouth shut) Your milage will vary from mine in that regard. (I am already much closer to pre-industrial standards of living.)
But really, the biggest hurdle that anyone is going to face is “Lifestyle Change”. and it sounds so innocent, but believe me, if things get really strange, wyrd and sideways, that alone is going to kill more people than anything. Far too many won’t be able to get their heads around ‘that don’t work no more’ , and many many haven’t the wherewithal to adapt. Or adapt fast enough.
Probably not my readers though. I’ve had my head in the “world is on the cusp of a new dark ages” for near 20 years and thats really the touch stone of this here ‘shop’. Its why I taught myself oldskool machining skills and not CNC stuff. (besides, I didn’t have the means to buy the CNC stuff.) (and really, I have had my head in survival stuff since I was a kid, at least the really fingers in the earth type stuff, like ‘shirt on your back and a pocket knife’ survival ) Building my home using salvage materials and barebones pre-industrial level ‘climate control’ was expediant and educational. Going off-grid for power and water was just the natural evolution of the rest of it. And those of you that have been here for at least the last 10 years KNOW, I live what I preach. I don’t just quote passages from books I have read. I’ve done or I am doing. (or figuring if its worth doing.) I had my water source lined up and plumbed before I laid my foundation.
And I am always open to new or better ideas, and will admit when I have been wrong. I don’t know it all, but I know a lot, and the more I know, the more I realize, I’m still an ignorant bumpkin in the great wide world. Like Mike in Fla said in comments,(and I paraphrase here) ‘I gotta learn, I can do no other’ and the day I stop learning is likely the day they bury my carcass (but thats just the transition to even MORE learning, IMO)

This is my weak spot. I have stocks put away for if things get scarce, long storage stuff and not just MREs. But likely only enough for myself for 6 months or a month for a famliy. I have options to supplement that with foraging (knowledge base,) and hunting, but I am not the only one around here that will be taking that route. Things could get very lean if worse came to worser-er. But I have one peice of knowledge that can only be gained by experiance. FASTING. I know how long I can go without eating a bite without ill effects. I also know that with fasting, I felt better in short order than I have felt in YEARS, There really is truth to this meme.
(and I am going to take a World Stage bend for a second) Maybe the upcoming shortages are Gods Hand showing us, in a backhanded fashion, that we are NOT living right. (and those of you who read my spewings on faith know, when I say GOD, I mean Universe, not the God of the Old Testament.) Actually, much of what is going on in this world is taking on many biblical proportions and I am seeing more and more people reaching for Faiths to sort out the mess. Maybe this is part of the fourth turning,,, Dunno. (I am also seeing more and more question the old Ideologies and seeking better answers.)
What does all this mean to you, right here, right now? The quick take-away: start figuring out the old ways if you hadn’t already. That is what I meant in a recent post with “look to the past for the map to the future.” There is plenty of information out there to guide and teach you. Keep in mind, there is alot of junk information as well. Use your better judgement. Learn to THINK, then RESPOND,,, don’t just react,,, that’ll get you killed. Practice in your head worse case scenarios and plan on different responses depending on what you may or may not have with you. Do that while you have the luxury now, and when that luxury is no longer around, you will already have programmed responses into your thinking; you’ll be less likely to react badly, and respond in a positive and productive manner. Note, I said ‘less likely’ , I make no promises, but it should help .

The odd at odds
(written last night, and no, not AI modified,,, Follow along.)
Nothing is sitting well today: my lunch, my thoughts, my music feed even feels off. I am at odds with the world and can’t quite sort the why of it.
Looking around at the big picture (and no, this is not going to turn into a rant about current events.) and some of my liberal upbringing is trying to escape the pen I keep it in. The “every body should/could” thoughts that seem the lifeblood of liberal thoughts.
Utopia for me might be your poison. The why I keep the internal liberal under lock and key. We are all individuals with individual drives and desires. No two will ever agree, or at least not for so long as to make peace a constant. Differences WILL arise, and not all are flexible in spirit.
I don’t see a world of scarcity. I DO see a world where resources are hoarded at the expense of others. OR Restricted and regulated out of existence for the everyday Joe. OR, people being indoctrinated into “this is how it is, there is no other”.
But we know that isn’t true. Take the building code thing. There is no reason for anyone on this planet to be homeless except by personal choice. Some will choose that, I nearly did at one point. I came real close to being the wandering hermit, mostly so I could find somewhere where I ‘fit’. (I found out there are no such places,,, I’m too ‘odd’ to fit unless I make my niche. Which I have been doing). But building codes have made homeownership onerous. Mortgages and property laws have made it worse. And in some ways, yes, even Capitalism has gone awry and made it so some own much, while many own little or nothing. That isn’t due to “Free Market” enterprise, but that regulatory monster of GOVERNMENT interfering (usually funded by the few with much to keep their edge.).
Here is a truth: a person, an acre of undeveloped land and one year of solid effort on their part, CAN have a durable and comfortable year-round shelter and a revolving food source for next to no money. A few tools, a little learning, and LOTS of drive, thats all it takes. But we have others build our houses, we have others grow our food, we have others do for us, that which we can’t do for ourselves, and no, there is nothing wrong with that, except for one thing. So many forget what they are capable of and depend on others for everything. And it has evolved into a growing welfare state where people are dependent on the FORCED welfare of others for their basic living needs. Maybe I should rephrase that part: So many have been taught they are not capable and to depend on Government for everything.
I don’t find the capitalism world at odds with natural rules. If someone is capable, I don’t find it sinful that they would want compensation for that ability. Such as the fact that I have black thumbs. I would happily pay others to run my garden, or better yet, build a shop in place of said garden and provide skills They lack for the Food I can’t get to grow. I’m not alone in that either. I know people that are natural talents at tasks, but completely inept at some of the most basic functions. It was said Einstein couldn’t tie his shoes, but look at the mental experiments he did that literally changed how we view the world. (is the shoe tying thing true? No idea, probably not, but it makes a great point to my missive here.)
“self-reliance has been systematically underrated and discouraged, and that’s the real scarcity problem”. Our modern systems of education have created disability, not grown sovereign peoples such as built this country. Those that have the sovereign drive are driven out of the discussion.
Here’s the real rub: We’ve been there before. Right after the Civil War/War of Northern Aggression. The Wild Wild West times. When the territories were lawless (they weren’t, but the law tended to be more precise and abrupt.). No Building codes, no real infrastructure interference except for RR right of ways. You typically knew the asshat you were trying to vote into office as your representative. You most likely knew where they lived when they weren’t ‘at the office’ which, at that time was NOT a full time job and they were paid Per diem, not a salary with lifetime bennies.
People built their houses out of resources from their land. Sod, Stone, Wood, Cobb, all of the above. No permits, no inspections, no inspectors to bribe, no Home Owners associations to dictate what condition your yard should be in,,, Typically every home had a small ‘truck’ garden to keep food on the table, and people depended on each other, locally, when things went sideways. How many even know their neighbors these days? Not saying it doesn’t happen, but everywhere I have lived the last 30 years, it was not as common as it was back in the 80’s. Everyone knew everyone in the hood back then. You may not have liked the Curtis’s but you knew them, and they knew you. You knew if you got in trouble at the Smiths, the word would beat you back home, and your butt might get a beating then. When I owned a home in Sin-Sin-nasty, I knew one neighbor: the elder retired lady across the street. That was it. No one attempted greetings, and it felt highly discouraged to meet them. And that was one tight packed neighborhood; 1/4 to 1/3 acre lots. I had more relationships in the neighborhood of Oceanside California where I was a renter.
Is that a symptom of something else? Like our reliance on tech these days? Or that most people tend to sedentary activities after the day wraps up in ‘the real world’?(again, a tech thing for the most part). Or is it a symptom of ‘Social Programming’?
Maybe things really haven’t changed as much as I perceive them.
And somethings are coming closer to reality and showing their true colors.

Something I found many years ago, and recently reminded myself of,,,
MY creative side comes out BEST when the finances are tight: those times where I am ‘trying to find a way to do a $50 job for fiddy cent, and the rest of the time trying to find the fiddycents,,,”
that was the state of mind I was in when I found the Gingery lathe book series,,, I had recently purchased my 3-1 chinesium mill, and was learning TONS about machining, but I knew there were limitations built in. More like ‘compromises’ more than just limitations. When I chanced upon the bend, and became its owner,,, Man,,, What can I say,,, I was in heaven…. Never should’ve let that gurl go,,, Covid, flat busted, pressured to relieve space, and believe me a 6′ bedded Lathe takes up some real estate on a floor.
FOR THE RECORD: my machining skills are completely self taught,,, Books dug out of archives in many cases helped, but when it came to making chips,,, I destroyed more than a few cutting tools along this trip. There is reason behind ‘feed rates’ and such,,, Those were the hard lessons learned. (along with “DON’T EVER SELL YOUR TOOLS”,,, live and learn… wont’ happen ‘gain.) (looking around,, not serious, but you never know,,, sometimes serendipty plays a HUGE role in these things. Would like to find someone selling off similar to what I had, because they are ‘going bigger’ or smaller, or getting out altogether due to age/whatever,,,)(I do NOT want a ‘restored to protect history’ museum peice,,, Seen a few of those and they are beautiful, but the price ,,,, Out of my league.)
Again, not serious,,, Has way too much on my plate currently to handle. TOYS must wait. BUT, there is a space in my future for another Southbend. I truly enjoy the sounds and smells of working metal, and the brainium gets exercized HARD figuring operations and protocols in builds. And there are times where being able to turn a spindle saves the day,,, I found that out long long ago when I welded up a shaft to build its bulk back up, then used a brake lathe to cut it back to ‘stock finish’. Probably spent way too many hours doing such, but the end result was NOT a bandaid, but a finalized and PERFECT repair. I only wish I knew if that hicle were still on the road,,, I lost contact with those people many many years ago.
But its more than just “machines” . I learned foundry work too. At this stage in life, just aluminum and brass. But those are pretty ubiquitous in the world and will do many many things well. You may need to over-engineer a new part to account for stresses,,,, Iron isn’t outside of my skills, I just have no experiance at it. (welding, yes,,, molten pours, no,,,)
Seriously, I learned this stuff because I thought the world, at least the world as I knew it, was going to collapse around 2010. I was on the road in 2012 in an RV, with ALL of my tools, machining, foundry, welding, mechanikin’ etc (including oxy/actylene set) being dragged around in my Jimmy that was in tow.
The world hasn’t collapsed, but it sure ain’t the same world as then. The techno hurdles have been fast and furious in the 13 years since then. I still have my Iphone of that time and it doesn’t work anymore. It powers up, but can’t detect networks except Wi-Fi.
This world is disposable now. There will never again, short MAJOR changes in the economy and mass thinking, be companies, like Southbend, that make products that will outlive the owners and designers. There will never be products that are handmade with the precision and passion like those old tools were. My last southbend (and my only one to date) turns 100 years old in September of this year. She was still capable of less than 0.004″ taper in a 12″ run. Her drives were immaculate with less than 0.0005″ endplay That was the most sensitive measuring tool I had and it barely wiggled when I checked.
Now there are CNC machines out there that are junk by the time the loan is paid off. I saw TWO sitting in the scrap yard recently,,, Big honking machines, stripped of anything that might be useful, but SCRAPPED by the company that ’employed’ them, because they were worn out,,, sloppy, starting to chatter, GLITCHY in the programming or out of date in many cases, seeing how the tech is still growing in leaps and bounds. 20-30k machines, turned into scrap in less than 10 years,,, vs a 100 year old lathe that was made by hand, ran by hand, and STILL cut tighter tolerances.
It makes me wonder about the future,,,
I pine for the past to return in some ways,,,
I know a manual lathe can not compete TIME WISE against a CNC machine,,, That wasn’t the point. The point is, There doesnt’ seem to be any PRIDE in those machines,, they are dead metal, with no soul, no spirit, NO PASSION,,, whereas the old machines,,, Style (look at the castings,, not blocky boxy clunk,,,) Hand built with pride and love. AGED,, and not just in the time they have been around, but literally Aged by the company to relieve any internal stresses in the castings BEFORE a single scraper blade was laid on them. Three years in the aging yard, outside, exposed to elements and temperature swings. Now, they take the castings, still warm to the touch and start milling and turning on them,, before they even have a chance to learn what they are. (yes, anthropomorphic thinking, but I think there is some validity to the concept,) And those parts almost never ‘feel’ a human hand until assembly, and many times, not even then. They are disconnected from us.
Little wonder they die so easily. Slaves have shorter lifespans.
Yeah,,, I’m a romantic in many waysl I think we have lost a lot over the last 20 (100) years, stuff that may not return easily,
and for what? Someones profit? Seems like its a losing game some days. Yeah,, you have the money, but what does the money buy you now? Disposable junk?
Give me my small block chevies, heavy honkin’ manual engine lathes, Loud obnoxious engine exposed Motorcycles, and people with a willingness to bust a knuckle and take a chance at failure to succeed at living. We live in a bubble wrapped society and it stifles us. Cuts our creativity to nil: I’d rather be scraping the bottoms of soup cans for that last couple of calories, and be INSPIRED for better, than comfortable and dull with a full belly owning JUNK that won’t last another 3 years with the best of upkeep.
THAT is why I know I will be ok, despite my burying my arse in debt recently. “It’s just money” The real world isnt’ ‘money’, (though I will be the first to admit,, money can answer a lot issues,,, But why don’t we try to answer them without that, FIRST, and see where we get?)

Side effects,,,,
Between the Carnivore diet (Lots of extra energy, clearer thinking) and BLOO-Twuck, and maybe more thinkin’ time on my hands with longer nights,,, I find my mind RACING along “CREATE” modes.
Just the last week, the desire to build another Kayak has been on my ‘resting’ mind, as well as another ‘hobby’ from even further back: BOWS.
FYI, I spend about an hour a night on the Erg, and I spend another 30 minutes or so bending bows, throwing arrows (IF the light is good, some evenings this gets left out for lighting reasons.) There are other things I do to keep my physique tuned (and they are ALL getting easier as the fat rolls off the middle and other areas,,,) but those two have the added bonus of getting creations going.
I want to build a new Greenland style boat, but not a skin on frame. I DO want to use the skin on frame as my ‘plug’, but I want a composite boat. Thinking the old design that I used on Serena as my plug to build from. Being a plug, I can cut some corners (no need of 20+ ribs) and use cheaper materials for the frame.
But the BOW,,,, That one, that is getting wilder and wilder in my head. 54″ horse bow, Hungarian Style, Composite limbs. And to break from tradition, a center cut body and molded grip. Use Beech for the Siyahs as I like the extremely fine grain of it (and its stronger than Oak in some ways, without the weight of Oak.) Thinking 45-50# draw weight at 28″ (my usual draw length) Not super-bow weights, but legal to use for hunting in all but one of the 50 states ( I Believe Alaska requires at least 50+ and depending on WHAT you are hunting, I can understand why. Wouldn’t want to piss off a Grizz by poking it with a sharp stick and NOT drive that sharp stick DEEP inside.)( I seem to remember Fred Bear took a Kodiak with one of his recurves weighted at 70# and swore he wouldn’t try again with anything less.)
Why a Horse bow? There is something about the way they look,,, Sexy and deadly at the same time. Think Cupids Bow and you have a good idea of the shape they take when strung.
When they aren’t strung, they have this crazy forward lean that defies normal tillering concepts like those used in Long bows or American Recurves. BUT more than that, I like their “Snap”. Because the way the Siyahs shorten the actual string length on release, they have a snap that compares to that of a Compound bow. really REALLY fast arrows, Faster than with a Recurve and makes the speed from a longbow seem like a slow truck. Fast arrows shoot flatter. Fast arrows can beat the “jump” that can frustrate a hunter. (Deer will jump if they hear a bow ‘snap’, and sometimes, that jump is enough to cause a full MISS.)
But Dio, why not just buy a compound and get all the bells and whistles of ‘sights’ and fast arrows, and adjustable draw weights? BECAUSE, those things can break, and leave you walking out of the woods pissed off. Sights can get thrown out of adjustment in a slip-sliding traverse of a gulley, AND, I have always been something of a traditionalist when it comes to bows. Carrying an 8# bow??? May as well be carrying a rifle, and if I am going that route, a rifle would be prefered,,, (also, I don’t stand hunt, I stalk: an 8# bow with all the other gear I carry,,, UGH!)(most compounds use metal for the main body, that metal can numb your hands with a quickness. Wood bodied (even composite made) are ‘warm’ and won’t freeze your digits off.)
But a bow, a traditional style bow (even if using modern composites and techniques) will work, everytime, leaving the ‘well that didn’t go as expected’ to my form and and release. And there is a certain satisfaction to be had when you make that 70yd shot, straight to the ribcage, with nothing but a “stick and string”. (I make my own strings too. There are a couple of posts from way back when, when I was making bows from PVC pipe and fishing string. I really like the braided strings for the serve and the monofiliment for the wrappings. Makes for one TOUGH string, AND, as survival tool, I always make two strings for a bow: one reason being, strings can get broken, but also, I have about 15-20 yards of high test fishing line in one string, if things get really desperate.)
Will I make either? Or both? Time will tell. Right now, my finances are all tied up in paying the bills, and getting BLOO-Twuck running. Then, paying off all the debt getting BLOO-Twuck running. Once that is out of the way, will see. BUT THE MIND NEVER STOPS,,,,

I’ve talked about my beliefs here a time or two. I would like to point you to a post by Francis first,,, GO read please
I’ve said I am more pagan than christian, and a lot of that has to do with how the Roman Catholics absconded certain holidays to ease reforming the pagan religions. Easter was spring rite, Hallows Eve was another,,, Saints day, same, you name, there is a pagan equivalant somewhere. Not going to go into that too much, just pointing out that there were some things like that in the faith that made me begin questioning the integrity of the whole.
Fact is, the whole argument is a negative assumption, not provable, not disprovable. Too many points where witnesses outnumber the written facts, but, as Francis points out in that article; those that would be writing down the events were under different constraints, different motives, different GOALS,,, Those that wrote the events as described in the bible and other records were the devote, and those that were not, might have been impelled to massage or outright quell the event ‘for reasons’,,,,
It wasn’t until I started diving into Quantum mechanics (and I am no expert by any degree, just an avid hobbiest at best) that I started to put some questions to myself that started to add up, along with the beliefs of the Christian faith to ‘THAT MAKES SENSE NOW’ There are still aspects that I take as “propaganda manipulation’ and I think I am justified in that since Religion in all its aspects is about as old as the human race is,,, some say the oldest profession ever (harlotry being the second,,,,) And why not, those that were smart enough to scare the tribal leaders, but weak enough that they needed an edge; sure, make up some mumbo jumbo about spirits that do evil if you don’t do this,,,etc etc etc,,,,
Funny how that works out to “maybe there IS a bit of truth out there”. Such as boiling water, or not eating pork, We know now why those are correct, but back in 500BC, how did the clerics of the Jews know,,, Simple observation and deduction; then twist in a bit of starry eyed reverence and make it Taboo for relgious reasons,,, Yeah, I might be putting some bias in my thinking since I hold little regard for organized religions.
More wars, death and misery have come from the various religions over time. Will again if things continue along certain paths,,,, The Crusades were never ‘finallized’ ya-know,,,,
But let me pass on all of that for a moment. Let me tell ya how I started to ‘come around.’ The whole Quantum Cloud thing started making me formulating my theory that we are “interfaces” or, to parrot a movie “Avatars” of our quantum selves, that we visit this realm for lessons, or vacation, or something, but that, due to the nature of the physical, we can’t bring all of our aspects with us, like our REAL memories. (and that explains some of the stories of very young children having “wierd memories” that they lose very quickly as they gain deeper harmony with the world around them. I know there are ‘memories’ that I have, that ‘aren’t mine’ perse,,, Things that there is no way I could have experenced the events I recall, and details that can’t be ‘explained away’. I won’t go into that here though.)
Now, we have this quantum cloud thing that is slowly being proven as fact, we know that the quantum do not ‘recognize’ time, or space like most particles and atoms, we know and have (mostly) proven and disproven many theories in quantum mechanics,
but there is one aspect that rings true across two places. One is the research itself, the other is the bible. THe deeper we look, the more we find and that rabbit hole looks to be infinitely deep. There is a quote in the bible of “the deeper you look, the more you will find ME.” (and apologies, I do not recall where that quote is ot to whom those words were intended, but I firmly recall hearing/reading them in my past. Maybe someone more learned in such things than myself can enlighten us in comments)
There is also the fact that more and more Quantum scientists, who usually start of as athiest or agnostic, become quite firmly Christian in short order,,, I don’t think that is accidental, or conspiracy, I think they find “Faith” is the ultimate answer at the end of the day,
Why? Because the more they uncover, the less the ‘rules’ work,,, Something directs those particles to do what they do (and why the search for the “God Particle’ is ongoing.) And that time and space are seemingly meaningless to the particles,,, Like Tachyons, that are ALWAYS detected BEFORE a nuclear reactor starts; almost as if it travels backwards in time,,,, There was some discussion in a group of friends about creating a nuclear war sensor using tachyon dectecton. but was shot down fast, since the detection is usually in microseconds,,, thats too short a time frame to be of use against nuclear war,,,,
Let me make a suggestion, totally hypothetical on my part. What if our history that we call ‘our history’ back to such and such a point, isn’t COMPLETE? That there is lost knowledge from long before our written histories, (and there is evidnce of this in some of the Seven wonders of the world) And that those that came before some collapse that didn’t make it thorugh to the pages we know, (like some epic flooding or something,,,) that was MUCH MORE IN TUNE with the quantum realm. Look around for the Circle of Life markings, that show up with regular frequency, all around the world, in archeology.
And what if some of that knowledge DID make it through and became religous teachings,,, such as the Chakras of asiatic medicine. We DO KNOW that the Old Testament is taken from the Torah of Jewish heritage. What we don’t know (but can make the assumption) is how much of that was orginially and STRICTLY oral traditon? and for how long? What was lost in translation? How much was INTENTIONALLY lost in translation because some group didn’t like some aspect?
No one knows. I don’t believe anyone can know because any that would be guilty of such have been dust longer than the tablets and scrolls ‘the word’ was taken from.
Keep the important stuff, cull the dregs,,, except someones definition of dregs might have held something important, that tied other things together, and the rot would spread,,,,,
And I digress,,,
What we know, and this is still growing: muscle memory is real. ‘Gut instincts/gut feelings’ are real. We know that what was thought of how the brain functions is woefully inadequate to explain what it actually does, and that its not just what is held within the cranium, but along much of that path as described in the Chakras. Either the ancients were far better at physical observation than we (YES!) or they were privy to communications with God/Creator/Author/The Cloud, that we are not.
and oh, you have no idea how that “why?” goes through my brainium in the wee darks,,,,,
Let me talk about the person that this day is in honor of, his death to be precise. Died on the cross, laid in a tomb, rose from the dead, appeared before congregations of people (supposedly world-wide by some modern peoples beliefs.) than ascended to heaven.
One thing that keeps coming back is how Christ, was not a solitary individual, but a TRINIITY,,, God, Son and the Holy Ghost. That could be another way of saying “strongly connected to the cloud” in words to convey an idea that didn’t exist at that time. Just my thoughts on that, BUT, that many many witnesses of the events prior, the miracles, then the roll out of events after death,,,, All could be explained by someone that was strongly connected to the quantum realms and able to manipulate the particles that have no respect of time or space, and that make up MATTER,,,, If I had that sort of ability, Yeah, I could make water solid enough to walk on, or ‘create’ food at will, I could see/sense illness and affect the causes of it and CURE the afflicted,,,, I could stall the separation of the quantum chord and my body, so that I could reanimate it. I would imagine the release of energy to do that would be strong enough to alter cloth so that it could form an image,,, (the shroud for those in question)
I can also see how some Groups in Power at the time would not want such word spreading to widely or at all. (the lack of records of a person of Christs’ nature by the Romans who were meticulous records keepers.) And that explains much of why the disciples were “outlaws” and treated as such when caught. And maybe Christ was able to pass on some of his ability/nature/whatever it is, on to his disciples, so that they too, could effect miracles (and were recorded as doing such in a few cases)
Maybe what he taught them was that ‘This reality isn’t real, only your thoughts are,,,,”
And that takes a HEADY amount of faith to transcend into.
So, lets make a small assumption that there is some meat on the bones of my hypothesis,,,, WHAT IS HEAVEN? WHO/WHAT IS GOD? Where does ‘Hell’ fall into this line of thinking? Start with the first one, and that one leads into the second, and THIS IS ALL MY OPINION, but it works for me and keeps my spirit/soul content,,, (faith!)
Heaven is THE CLOUD, a Cloud of Quantum material that is scattered about the universe. Its not ‘visible’, only recently been detectable, and no one knows just how big or dense or, well, nothing much known, and leave it at that. BUT, if that cloud were consolidated thoughts of creatures, than the cloud is US,,,, ALL OF US,,, some more complicated than others, some less, some more intune with things, some fast, some slow: and when I say “US”, I mean every single human, furrie, fish, plant, and rock. EVEN THE EARTH (though I have yet to figure out how that would work,,,,but Gaia does ‘vibrate’ and show long movements as if alive so to speak.) “Heaven” would then be that cloud where we combine with the group, share our experiances, whiz about the universe and do different things as different sorts of beings.
So WHO/WHAT is GOD? We are,,, even here, where we are but a miniscule part of our real selves, we make up a part of that thing called Heaven and Heaven IS God,,,, WE were created in his image, and in doing so, we took a part of him as ourselves,,,, TO ABUSE THAT IS THE WORST SIN!!!
Is that blasphemy? Probably to some, but I find peace in it, and I have used it to ‘correct’ some wayward drogues I had the ‘pleasure’ of being in close contact with. Prefacing that idea as “we are all GOD, and we need to act as such” really seemed to hit them sideways with a clue bat. That could be part of that ‘heady amount of faith’ to transcend into.
Now, What the Hell is Hell? Hmm,,,, First off, the whole idea of Hell really was what turned me off from the teachings when I was a kid. For the preacher to say “God is unbridled love” then to follow it up with “but you’ll burn in hell for,,,,,” Let me just say that a 6YO could see the fallacies and discrepencies in the teachings,,,, Now, with that in mind, I do think GOD has some way of punishing us (we punish ourselves really) and that way is, IN SOME INSTANCES, Right here,,,,, On earth,,, we get tortured, torn, destroyed mentally and spiritually, RIGHT HERE< RIGHT NOW, at least some of us do. I can think of one right now, that even though he knows the solution, can not back out of his personal Hell,,,, He may go his entire life in that Hell,,, And as a quantum being, that knows neither time nor space,,, that may seem like an eternity,,, OR even the blink of an eye, and I would imagine the CLOUD has some say in the perception. So, yeah, I think in some ways, Hell is right here, right now, and those of us that seem ‘middlin’ in pain and discomfort are in the Purgatory side of things, Learning some lesson that needs learned for whatever purpose,,,
And IMO, those purposes are to make us ‘closer to God’.
And some of us have a long road ahead to that end. Maybe even multiple trips ‘here’ to do so. (explains the reincarnation side of Eastern philosophies, no?)
I think all religions older than ‘the birth of Christ’ have some merit and are tied together in some way shape or form. Most of those after that fact are either factions of an older one, or some silliness created in a cave by some loser pedophile who was on the run,,,, Most of the modern religions (like evangligcal baptists herebouts) seem twisted to me and really buried in dogma that contradicts the purpose of a religion. My opinion, YMMV.

((as for the “Demons” and other agents of evil,,,, All I have to say on that is “They are real” and you only need to look around to find it in action. That aspect is covered by ‘fallen angels’ and such: they are the same as us in fact, but warped maligned and dangerous to the GOOD,,,,))
