Something I mentioned and it likely came off as Arrogant or ‘personally settled’. was the Global trade vs Global society thing.
Personally, I think global trade is a wonderful thing: there are places were resources are overly abundant and others where scarce barely covers the item/s. Thats why I think global trade is a wonderful thing: it gets resources spread around. We see the fragility of it in our current pissing war with Iran, but thats not to say its faulty. Yet again, the anarchist in me believes the issue comes down to Governments interfering through Tarrifs and taxation and regulations.
Some of y’uns are gonna argue that we NEED those things or we will get into all sorts of nonsense trouble.
Maybe a few will, but word will spread and the offender is gonna get cut off at the knees and a new vendor will step up, preferably more ethical in action. Thats how true Capitalism is self correcting. Yeah, someone might get hurt or die because of a bad product, but the Market will ‘reward’ the vendor with black marks and in short order, that vendor is bankrupt.
You could die slipping in your shower tonight.
Sorry, its called life and no, it ain’t fair. You wake in the morning and roll the dice, same as I, and no one knows the future.
Over-regulation and forcing markets to play a certain way skew the benefits of True Capitalism, and you end up with Corporate entities that exist on paper, but have no physical accountability to the customer. That leads to monopolism and oligarchs.
The other side of the coin I made mention of was “Global Society”. that whole “Diversity is our strength” crap.
Better look at a brick wall that has withstood umpteen earthquakes. The bricks aren’t “Diverse”,,, Nopes,,, they are homogenous in design and layout, and that IS strength. Societies work similar, building culture based on peoples needs and desires. Like that link I posted to PJmedia where the author asks the hypothetical Politician “define this Unity you want us to back. Because the other side crying unity has a definition counter to my well being.” (paraphrased by me, points the same.)
Even with the push for immigration, legal or not, you’ll note that the immigrants tend to ‘clump’ in locations, and take over. NO INTERGRATION DESIRED. That is not immigration, thats invasion to establish a beachhead. We did it on D-Day. The only difference between then and now is one was armed with weapons; this version is armed with Emotional Propaganda against the peoples they are replacing, and the replaced people are unarmed.(metaphorically)
They certainly don’t abide by “diversity” and want their enclaves ‘more like home’.
Thats human nature: you see it when people ‘vote with their feet’ and move to a less restrictive state, and then keep voting for the same crap that made their home state a hellhole. We might ‘desire’ change, but when it comes to putting rubber to the road, most people are only talk, not action.
How do you change a person? You can’t.
They have to want to change, and they have to want to change with every fiber of their being. Otherwise, it becomes a short-term trend and in 6 months, they are right back to their old selves.
And I am pointing three fingers right back at myself as I say that. I know it, I’ve been there and returned, even have the T-shirt to show for it; right back to my old ways so gradually that I woke up one day and said ‘what happened to that work out program?”
We get comfortable. We don’t like discomfort, avoid it like the plague, and yet, discomfort has driven more upward evolution than any amount of comfort. It’s part and parcel of why Empires have this Cycle of rise/fall. Trend lines may flucuate a decade or three, but the end result? Near Mirrored to the one prior.
I’ve even expressed a parallel in my personal life. That when I am broke and desperate, I get the most creative in solution finding. When I am comfortable and flush with cashflow, I seek the easy ‘buy my way out’. And doesn’t that sound like a bunch of politicians that keep kicking that Government Budget thing down the road to the next ‘deadline’? They don’t wanna trim the fat because ‘buying their way out’ is so, so much easier. So we end up 32 trilly-ON in debt with GDP barely making the minimum payment.
Fred Lewers in comments (last post) spells out quite well some directions that we should take if we wish to remain a viable Country on the world stage. I agree with him 100% and I think we both know (and believe he stated as much in the comment) that “Ain’t gonna happen”, at least not before the damage is so far gone and there is no other choice. And that choice likely won’t be made by those in power. That scenario has many historical references as well.
Ok y’all, I’m starting to blabber on, and will probably start circling back around things trying to squeeze out every last detail for ya. Y’all are smarter than that; don’t need your hands held to come to a conclusion.
SO,,,
I’m shifting gears to something more “diary” oriented. Bank has established Fraud on those blocked transactions, froze my card, and is issuing a new one. New phone is working good, now that I uninstalled all the bloatware and other stuff that I ain’t ever gonna use. Twuck and Phone are now communicating fine, since “dead” phone is now Truly Dead, not ‘mostly dead’
and the world still revolves around the sun, Cozzie still chases my truck out to the RR in the morning, and Da is still kicking Bees around (when they aren’t kicking him around.)
Life goes on.
