Got to have some serious funz today. Not so long ago, had a big arse rollin’gate that the customer decided AFTER INSTALL that they didn’t like and wanted a double swing instead. We cut that monster at the assembly points to take back to shop in two pieces.
Re-use, Re-purpose, Re-Cycle.
This mornin’ the boys and I hauled those two pieces back into the shop and Son of Bossman and I looked it over and I was told “twenty foot opening, total length thirty one feet, Make it happen”(Internal Dio starts rubbing his paws together and grinning). So,,, after I returned from a Diag sesh on a different powered gate ( nearby lightning strike burned out control board. Gonna be a minute to fix that’un) I went over that assembly with tapes and chalk and started making a game plan to accomplish “Make it happen”.
Gonna do a little patting myself on the back on this one, because it looks good. If you know what you are looking for, you can see its modified. Otherwise, it looks like new.
The rest of the day was spent in prep for a list of kennel builds for a regular customer in Tennessee. These are usually 20-30 panels, some with gates built in. And I tend to go through an entire bundle of pipe building these things. Tomorrow is likely a continuation of that prep. I figured my cut lists today, and there are many little pieces needed prepared before I strike an arc.
Author copies of unrevised Wings came in today. I’m now working on that lost metadata format thing so that the print version doesn’t get all skronked up. Epub version is through Vellum and I have more tools to play with there. Its the PDF submission for dead tree versions that got goofed. Mostly the entirety of Book 1. No chapters listed. And the ‘final chapter’ of Book 3 is danged near a novel unto itself now. ( I did that when I cut and pasted it out for revision. I deleted the list of page breaks and chapters. Oops)
Still ahead of schedule for re-release. Waiting on Sidd and Claude to finish their notebooks of stuff for me, but thats not critical for the re-release. Thats all on me as already mentioned.
side note: Glad as F! I bought a new office chair. My back ain’ta complainin’ like it was this time last week. There is a reason I don’t do office work for the day J.O.B. Been there, done that, and my chiropractor was making bank on me for it. No t’anks! I can sit here for a few hours, no problem, but to pull a standard 8 hour shift,,, Heck, the mere thought of it made my back twinge. Those times where I am pluggin’ away hard, I pay later. Swallowing OTC’s like candy for a week, just to be functional. Its not ‘just’ the chair, but the prior damage done that needs stretched and used: sitting in a chair lets it all stiffen up. I have a timer that I use to remind me to get up and move every couple of hours, but even that gets ignored when the Muse is on my back, riding hard with whip in hand and spurs to my short ribs.
We don’t get to choose our Muse most days,,,
Its gettin’ late, the eyes are griping at me for all the detailed stuff I have been doing today, half without my cheaters on, and I DO need to get out of this chair and do something that works me back a bit.

Was that rolling gate on a slope? Why no like? Or was it a case of not wanting a huge opening and long wait time every cycle? Customers… Smile and say “Sure, we can do that. It ain’t nothin but a little time and money mister.” I try to keep them happy and smiling. They’re more willing to sign a check when they’re satisfied!
An older lady that I used to worship with had a tree fall on her fence. Long and short of it was cut up and remove the crown of a hickory tree (Yay, free smoker wood! Mmm ribs) Convert single swing gate to a double swing gate cause the new mower don’t fit… And put all the mangled fencing back together. Two short days cause a long day don’t happen in East Texas July heat. Nosirree! I played the heat injury game. I tried it and you wont like it! 0 stars! But the slope sucked. 10′ opening and reused two swing gates. I’m glad she doesn’t have a small dog. I’d have to put a drag seal on the bottom!
And today my daughter’s boyfriend had to put up some fencing so I loaned him my dead blow T post driver. 24 lbs of exercise machine. I’m glad I made it, I’m not so glad to use it cause it’s a workout!

Hand operated. I believe he discovered a 46′ x6′ gate has some mass and even on rollers, takes effort. LOL.
