As in “I’m getting a little bent outta shape” by shit in this world now.
Just left court house dealing with truck registration and surrendered the title to my last truck which went to the scrap yard. Taxes had been paid for all of 2021, but somehow I owed taxes on it because I drove it in January.
And rules changed as to how registration runs. Used to be bday to bday, then they changed it from purchase date to anniversery, and now its back to bday to bday. I got a little hot about all the changes (Y’all keep changing things! “) and the lady “bent the rules”, which tells me this isn’t a hard and fast thing but something each CSR has control over and is likely shifted on whim and hotflash activity.
Yeah, I’m bitchin’. I like systems, functional SYSTEMS. Even a system with flexibility built in is better than “I feel like doing it this way today” bureaucratic nonsense.
And maybe its just me, getting older and less flexible; both physically and emotionally. Yup, I guess I’m turning into a grumpy ol’ fart.
Fucktastrophe!!! It feels like that is where we are headed, with the Soviet aligned growth of government. The inordinate levels of taxation that we allow ourselves to be subjected to and rules that are openly arbitrarily applied by political position/power.
I wrote once about finding a rabbit alongside my walking trail. It was breathing, but incoherent with blood loss. Not from a gunshot wound or injury from another animal. Nope, it was so infested with ticks, its fur felt lumpy. They were literally sucking the poor thing dry, and it was so far gone as to not care that a large predetor was touching it, let alone near it.
We haven’t been reduced to that, yet! but I fear we aren’t all that far from it. The Stimmys, with all the attached pork and subsidies (bribes) to foreign entities, diluting the monetary supply and enforcing regulations that restrict resource utilization, etc etc etc. America is NOT a free market economy, hasn’t been for decades, but all of the intervention by Gov is ramping to almost vertical in just the last 10.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, there were robber barons. Now we have Tech Oligarchy. The parallels are eerie. History doesn’t repeat, but there is a certain rhyme goin on.
Whats next? Another world war? Or another Civil War? Hell, at this point, the way Mordor on the Potomac is managing to piss off every world leader, AND tighten the ratchets and abuses on its own populace: I’m giving even money on both calls.
