And the local bidnesses aint got the greenbacks,,,
I do most of my transactions electronically; ( I know, I know, stoopid of me, but thats how my system functions best currently.) Yesterday as I was depositing at the bank, the initial screen perplexed me, all fast cash and withdrawal ‘buttons’ were greyed out. Just makimg deposit so no biggie, but I noted it.
Done with the deed, I pull into a spot to do my transfers n such through the Eportal (my credit union is in Cincy still. 20 years with them means perks I would lose if I move) and watched the lines. In 15 minutes, about 20 cars came through, all ran their card, and immediately pulled it back out and left, or rolled around to the walkup ATM and did similar. No cash.
Went to a store nearby for washerfluid and other stuff, and at check out, No CASH option on check out. Asked the checker ‘whasup with the no cash?’ . Totally wiped out before noon she said. They were getting people walking in buying a pop, and getting $100 cashback until they were doling it out in ones and fives and the manager had the option cut off by Corporate.
Makes sense, free money, better move it into tangible form as fast as you can so it can’t be clawed back.
And no, I haven’t seen this one either. (And if I did, it would be turned around just as fast as everyone else is doing.) I don’t mind at all because its one less hook they will have in me when times start going all Stasi. For those that do get it, make it count. Hell, use it to buy guns and ammo and stick a dirty finger in the eye of DotGov. Or dump the whole shebang into longterm food stuff and storage of it. (Ya have noticed the thin shelves have not thickened back up, right. Check out petfoods, and see whats going on there. What hits the petfood production first hits people food second. )
We are in the “When a government that figures out how to bribe the populace with its own money,,,” times. Most people don’t give a shit whats happening behind steel barricades (or that they have barricaded themselves in) so long as that stimmy check hits and Uncle Sugar keeps sending that monthly allowance.
When those EBT cards stop, we will drop straight into the depths of Heinleins “Crazy Years”. Frosty times? Ya ain’t seen nothin yet.
