The pic does not do the flow justice. Current is about 5 mph and I did three floats and three attainments. Each about 3/4 of a mile with that set of narrows smack dab in the middle. Didn’t capsize but my wetsuit is hanging to dry because I was drenched in sweat by the time I wrapped it up on that third attainment.

This is my first time out with Big Blue, the Perception Vizcaya. One of Perceptions first attempts at a plastic expedition type boat. Well, not my first time in water with her, but first time in currents. You saw her first in my video of a failed roll. She does roll, and I can roll her so I wanted to see how she does when the water is a bit more lively.
She passes, my spray skirt failed. Gonna have to reseal the seams at the tunnel/deck junction. The boat is very responsive to edging and feels very alive with current on quarters and like she’s on rails when running in. She doesn’t like a following current, but response needed for corrections is minimal.
But I am flat BEAT from those attainments. (Thats when you are paddling upstream against the flow. ) That little set of narrows wore me out. But I definitely needed the time since now my shoulder no longer aches. The GPs are the ticket. If I had done it with a Euroblade, I wouldnt have been able to carry the boat back to the truck.
Getting ready for warmer weather fun. If its nice tomorrow, gonna take the Jefe out and hit the rapids (class 1.25ish usually, running closer to class 2 right now with the flow up.) lower down and try to get a better feel of that type water and what I can expect from a short(ish) white water boat. Several nice eddielines to keep getting back into fast moving water so I can play.
Awesome man. Glad you’re getting some paddle therapy. Be safe n have fun.
