I brought this idea up in discussions around campfires over 10 years ago. Even then, I caught sole flak over it, but the flak came from one that later displayed serious narcissistic tendencies. Hmmm, attitude and personality might be related,,,,
My idea was to revamp the congress critters salaries to reflect the base average of their home state. No more no less. They wanna raise, then improve the conditions in the he home state so salaries/wages increase.
I was not aware of the million plus dollar expense accounts. Seriously, that just blows me out of the water. I’m sure you can relate to having to budget an expense within the realm of your salary/wages. These Jacks get the salary and a huge account to cover operations: WTF?!?!!
And as evidenced by certain peeps in power now, and this is documented in several places, the ability to circumvent “insider trading” rules and invest mad money (that they have, thanks to lucrative expense accounts freeing up salary to be used as capitol,,,) yada yada yada wash rinse repeat.
And people winder how a CONgress critter can become a multi-millionaire on a couple hundred thousand salary.
Yeah, and we wonder why we get the clotted mess of slimeballs that occupy the peoples house and act as if they were aristocracy. And why the newbs on the scene quickly turn into putty.
The only person I can say did not turn ‘nobility geek’ was Ron Paul. I would like to think his son I holding the moral line, but I can’t say for or against: I haven’t researched it.
Anywhoos, read that link. Lots of great ideas to shackle TPTwB later down the road, IF we ever get to that point. It would be nice since it would set a precedent that would be “poly-tickian” repellant.
