Not that it really matters much, as it is that period … Continue reading Sellin the drama

Flubber and bumbled tinkerin’

September 8, 2014 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

Ya gotta love when it all comes together, just to go flyin'part again. Long story short, the recent evolution in the saw mill did not make the survival of the fittest requirement. BUT, the saw did function well enough to see that the foundation is solid enough. A couple-a-changes in order and then all should … Continue reading Flubber and bumbled tinkerin’

Picking the ball back up

August 29, 2014January 2, 2015 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

I must apologize to Spud, as I kept dropping that ball I told him I would carry forward. It may be a tad late, but I am going through and doing what I originally intended to do, as best as I can. Here is the link to James Dakin's post and a quote from him. … Continue reading Picking the ball back up

Evolutions

August 25, 2014August 25, 2014 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

See, I am not fixated on 'one way, my way, period!'. I can adapt as need be. In all actuality, this seems to work far better than the wood discs and, other than a big tube of RTV to hold the rubber in the groove, every part was from the wheel itself. I did use … Continue reading Evolutions

More on the saw thingamabobber

August 18, 2014 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

As you can see things are coming along. I set up the engine so that I could use the unit as a wood lathe to turn the hubs concentric to the shafts. All was going well UNTIL I put the blade on. Whoops! The shafts are to small and flex inward so the blade pops … Continue reading More on the saw thingamabobber

Maybe there is something to discuss

August 12, 2014 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

I was thinking about this today while running through the mindless droll that I call a "Job". (the sad thing is, once I get to this level in production, the mind disengages from the body and does its' own thing; like thinking too much) So, what is ol' Dio thinking about now? Pretty much everything, … Continue reading Maybe there is something to discuss

WINGS OF CHANGE

What happens when a wounded veteran, a computer genius, and a handful of fiercely independent misfits decide that the best way to change the world is to stop waiting for someone else to do it?

G has spent years flying from a wheelchair, learning to make the sky obey him even when his body won’t. T is a computer wizard with a mysterious past, an enormous extended family, and a talent for turning impossible ideas into working machines.

Together, they build things that shouldn’t exist.

Aircraft that push the limits of what remote flight can do. Technology born in garages and workshops instead of corporate boardrooms. And a community of people who have decided that family isn’t necessarily something you’re born into.

But building extraordinary machines attracts attention.

Soon G, T, and their growing family find themselves caught between government agencies, competing agendas, and people who would very much like to know exactly what they’re capable of. What began as tinkering and experimentation is becoming something far more consequential.

Because when you build something powerful enough to change the rules, eventually somebody comes looking for the keys.

A beginner’s guide to going off grid. how to evaluate if you even want to make the attempt. written by the curmudgeonly author of this blog and his dog
