Ya may have guessed,

April 27, 2017 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

But I have pretty much written off that story for the now.  It has merits, but with the shift in my living arrangements, my interest has lagged.  (A good reason I don't write professionally, I would hate it, I am quite certain.) Good note of things though, my lungs are coming back on line with … Continue reading Ya may have guessed,

No man is an island

April 18, 2017April 18, 2017 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

We've all heard it before, and several of us have even stated such, but I am (re-)learning a new aspect of that clichè. My short time away from the job has been beneficial and enlightening.  It also has been a tad expensive, though the money spent was on projects that needed done.  No regrets, those … Continue reading No man is an island

On a different string

April 10, 2017April 11, 2017 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

I gotta ask (rhetorically anyhows): So libtard, how is it that volunteerism doesn't work?  Let me tell a little story first. It was early afternoon and I had a pot of coffee brewing.  Stepping out on the porch, I smelled a grass fire.  Nothing new this year, its been very dry all winter and the … Continue reading On a different string

Life is good

April 8, 2017April 8, 2017 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

I can let the cat outta the bag now.  I quit work on March 29th.  A little incident 'tween another employee and myself was the straw that lent me the wherewithal to walk.  Quite literally, I had had enough. Good news though; I have had time to deal with stuff around the homestead that was … Continue reading Life is good

NPR Rasputin and You

March 27, 2017 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

I set up a car stereo system in the wall of my house sometime last year; y'all might remember seeing it when I was showin' off my bookshelves n books.  Sadly, the reception around these parts blows.  I mostly use the system with memory cards loaded up with music, or Bluetooth with my phone.(technology can … Continue reading NPR Rasputin and You

Addendum to yesterday’s post

March 26, 2017 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

I think my biggest issue at thos point is "Where are the indictments?  Where are the investigations of criminal activity in many of the higher executive branches over the last 24 years? " Until we start seeing those, I have to lean towards colusion as the premise of our current Prez.  Not a good view … Continue reading Addendum to yesterday’s post

A breeze, a walk and some thinkin’

Still beating around in storyland trying to get the mechanix of the story rolling again, took another long weekend in an effort to let my body continue healing itself.(burnin' up my vaca but for good purpose) And watching events unfold in the District of Criminals. WINGS OF CHANGE

What happens when a wounded veteran, a computer genius, and a handful of fiercely independent misfits decide that the best way to change the world is to stop waiting for someone else to do it?

G has spent years flying from a wheelchair, learning to make the sky obey him even when his body won’t. T is a computer wizard with a mysterious past, an enormous extended family, and a talent for turning impossible ideas into working machines.

Together, they build things that shouldn’t exist.

Aircraft that push the limits of what remote flight can do. Technology born in garages and workshops instead of corporate boardrooms. And a community of people who have decided that family isn’t necessarily something you’re born into.

But building extraordinary machines attracts attention.

Soon G, T, and their growing family find themselves caught between government agencies, competing agendas, and people who would very much like to know exactly what they’re capable of. What began as tinkering and experimentation is becoming something far more consequential.

Because when you build something powerful enough to change the rules, eventually somebody comes looking for the keys.

A beginner’s guide to going off grid. how to evaluate if you even want to make the attempt. written by the curmudgeonly author of this blog and his dog
