Sometimes,,,

the ‘women’ of my life make other plans.

Was headed home. Gonna check the array activity and clean up my kludgy wiring mess. (my defense, I really wanted to see things working before I commited) (FYI, I’m commited now.  Thing apparently worked flawlessly.  Was in the morning position when I left (dark out and where I had parked it last night.) and this eve, in the full west position as shown in the previous clip.)(I do NOT know if it crept over there, or  triggered and did the full sweep in one pass.  No idea.  Need eyes on it for that.)

and then, Bloo decided she needed attention after her long ass drive over the weekend.   Something silly-simple thank the small mekanikal gods.   Went to the P.O.B. then town, and while waiting checkout, she started spewing coolant out the overflow.    HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!    Shut her down,,, what the hell.    Let her cool down.  Opened the levervent on the radcap and she sucked that over flow bottle down.   Take back off home,,,   Did fine, till I came off the  highway; then the temp started climbing again.

AH-HA!!! I’ve been down this road before.    Damned clutch-fan shit its guts out and wasn’t  pulling air through the Radiator.  Highway speed pushes enough to keep the temps down, but once speeds  slow, that temp starts to climb.

And I had one!!!    Buffalo did this shit to me two years ago, and hammered that lesson home.  Simple part,  not that expensive and swappable between the two blocks I have.  (the fan design is the difference, not the clutch.)

Swap out old for new, check the system and I can FEEL the difference between the old fan to new.   HUGE amounts of air being pulled through.   Rev her up and with a quickness she is pulling cold air through that  rad.    WOOT!!!

But, that means I am NOT working on a kludged up wiring system tonight.  It’s working, its getting dark out there already, and I have no desire to be working by headlamp in the dark.

I’m just happy that I can keep driving the BLooTwuck with confidence.  She had me paranoid as heck for a minute. (And now, I need to order a new spare.)

LLLLL!!!

(update: Me being part kurious kat, I had to ‘know’.   Went out to the array/controller, and using a flashlight, shined the light onto the controller sensors.   If I went full right/left, it triggered and would track full pass.  If I focused the light on the upper two sensors (has 4) it would track to the light and stop.    It works; don’t  need eyes on it to know.  Tomorrow (fingers crossed no other blow-ups or meltdowns.) I’ll finalize the wiring  and get rid of all that kludgy wiring I made.)
