Dealing with the property exchange, moving utilities into my name, looking and listening to others (and yes, one of them is Bad Cuz. He may not be a reliable source of information, but he is on the down dregs of society and has some interesting asides. I’ll touch on them in this screed.)

One big problem I keep seeing is our current CONSUMER economy. I do love the ability to order something and have it within a week, and from where is beside the point. Granted, that kills local commerce to some degree. And some would say that is the evil of Capitalism at play. No, that is technology taking over shipping and old school strategies not evolving. Warehousing has turned a corner from the CityBlock sized local warehouse to mega-acre AI/Robotic flow systems.
Where I bump into a stone wall is property rights. I own a home. It’s off-grid, no utilities, no overhead within the system: and not at all recognized as a residence because of those very things. This is where Bad Cuz drops into the mix. Similar points: lives in a trailer, no utilities, and can’t (won’t actually, but thats not the point) get any leverage towards getting that address thing. Same as my home. Despite the fact that I have lived here for eleven years (Oct 5th will make 11 full years.) no Utilities means its not a house in the States eyes. They view it as a shed or outbuilding.
We’ve come a long way since Pre-Great Depression days and the growth of the power grid.
It always comes down to Government. Rules, regs, red-tape, loopholes, cut-outs and reps that will pass 37% of whatever bill crosses thier paths, no matter if it is liked by the electorate or not. (Like the recent SAVE act, that can’t make any headway despite an 87% approval rate across the populace. That poor peice of legislation is in the 63% doomed files currently)
And where did all of the rules and regs about what constitutes a ‘residence’ come from? The Building Codes: codes that were written by Corporate types to protect thier interests and agreed to by poly-tickians that created legislation “for the Common Good”. We now have houses that are total crap after 30 years (about the time the first mortgage would be paid off) and MUST be heated and cooled by the Grid system because they are total shit when it comes to thermal efficiency. There are 100+ year old houses that maintain comfortable living interior with minimal energy input, but the “Top of the line” house being built today can’t maintain temps if there is a power failure.
BUT, you can’t build to that 100+ year old design and get a “residence” status now. No Inspector will sign off on such, No permits would be granted to begin with.
Do you own the property? I think that is the REAL question of all this.
And fact being, NO, you don’t. Property taxes tell you that. Try to not pay and find out how fast the county you live in sells it to the highest bidder for back taxes and you are suddenly forced to vacate (or get jailed, or shot, depending on how hard you fight back.)
Even now, I’m going through all of the flaming hoops of bureaucracy to Claim Deed to a property that was ‘owned’ outright (and has been in the family name through three transistions) and yet, I won’t ‘own it’, ever. As long as I pay the kings geld, I get the right to live here, but while as I don’t follow the ‘rules’, it will never be more than a plot of land with my name attached and NEVER will get considered a residence.
Something is wrong with that picture and it sure looks more like Feudal Europe than AmeriCAN principles.
Are we serfs? Sure seems like it. With a large portion of our society being ‘wage slaves’, unable to afford basic housing past a rental property, unable to nestegg enough for a downpayment,,,
Granted, thats all hyperbole. Fact is, even a guy making basic rates at Mickey D’s could find ‘something’ in land, raw, in need of,,, There was a story about a guy in NH that bought his first property for a grand, lived on it (in a tent) for 5 years while working as a brick layer. Built his Business, literally, from the ground up, one brick at a time, and is now one of the leading CNC Machine places in NH. Its called discipline. Its called MINDSET. And delayed satisfaction. Most of our modern world hasn’t the first clue of that last. (and as you read above, I can be just as guilty in my consumerism.)
Yes, our world has a corporate problem. I just read Doctor Malones Substack talking about Pork, Chestnut trees, and the down-ward spiral of quality in food. That “Smithfeild” is owned by a CCP conglomerate (knew this, seen it with mine own eyes.) and how things have changed since the Great Depression, and usually with Government Blessing.
Not the blessing of the people, despite the mythical “representative” aspect of our system. It ain’t: its bought and paid for by the highest bidder and subject to loyalty by graft. We all know it, we all ‘joke’ about it,,,
so in some ways, YES, it is with the blessings of the people, because we don’t take these asshats to task when they stray, and we left the tar and feathers and split rails out of town back in the early 1800’s.
We’ve a problem, and its much bigger than some OMB that shit all over his campaign promises becasue some SmolHats had some dirt on him. Its bigger than the 535 members of Congress, the 9 Judges in Marble Halls, and is MUCH bigger than the 68 sq miles of the District of Columbia. Its in every town hall nationwide, and is Vat Grown in our Indoctrination Centers called Public Education.
And I wonder why no one has stepped off the porch, even though we are sitting on well over 50% taxation of our lifeblood. The Colonists shit their breeks over a 3% tax stamp. (and a long list of usurpations– we are well past those IMO)
TL Davis stated in his recent Substack submission that the actual “Constitution” is meaningless in form now, and he abides by the SPIRIT of it. I agree. The Government since Lincoln, (and some could argue since the actual writing of the document.) have used the paperwork as mere suggestion, not a hardlined framework of rules.
And again, The Tar and Feathers and Splitrail rides out of town went ‘buy-bye’. Repercussions dwindled and ceased long ago.
So yeah, our servitude, our enslavement with the adoption of the 13th Amendment (its called voluntary now,,, Read between the lines.) That’s all on us. Our not hanging the progenitors of Property Taxes when they first tossed the idea around, leads us to where we don’t own jack shit now. And we see the same mindset in “subscription services” that run rampant through the tech world and are now reaching into our homes with printers/ink, and appliances that want secondary verification to function in the manner you thought you bought at the store.
