Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

that real enemy thing

I have a feeling that I may have ticked off a few of you with my “real enemy = US” statement yesterday.   Well, sorry, but not sorry: I meant what I said.   We are our own worst enemy, every day and every hour.  We are USUALLY the reason for our strife, and not just by personal choices, but by our internal struggles with this world about us.

Very few of us, and I do mean VERY FEW, have the self-discipline of that Buhdist monk that self Immolated in Vietnam back in the sixties.  WE get absorbed in our lives so deeply that everything past that point becomes aetheral to us.

And counter-intuitvely, when we are in the best state of being, when we can have everything we need (not want, NEED) with just reaching out for it, WE FALL APART.   Our struggles become external, but we are still immersed in the self.

And so few can sit back, observe, and more importantly, ADMIT, that they are the source of their discontent.

I was watching Mark E’s lastest Vlog on Utoob.   In it, he had found a campsite, was setting up, and a large Fast Mover came along and swamped the shoreline where he was at, in waves.    His kayak was there, hatch covers off, and his gear was soaked.   I imagine his entire kayak got swamped.

But more importantly, his Mac was in there and NOT in a drybag;  the water destroyed it. ($1200 replacement later.   That had to hurt.)

BUT, Mark, while visibly upset with the situation, did NOT rant and rail against a fast mover that was far off, he didn’t blame stupid arrogant UhMuricans for fucking his shit up,,,,   Nope, he took the blame on his shoulders; “it was my fault for leaving the boat at the waterline, leaving the hatch covers off,,,,,”   move on,,,

We rant and rail about our own fast movers in life, swamping our ‘boats’ with ‘waves'(like onerous taxes, or stoopid laws of ‘protection’, or dementia patient ‘leaders’,,,,). We let these things ‘inside’ where they fester and abscess and poison us. (I ain’t pointing fingers, I am More than guilty,,,,)’

And words only DO so much,,,, but words have powers most never suspect: they can and DO change reality, and if you don’t watch what how you apply those words, THEY CHANGE YOU and not in good ways.

Conversely, if you do watch how you apply those words, they can change you for the better. Mark KNOWS this, even if he doesn’t ‘preach’ it,,, I saw it in his actions in that vlog,, Later in the video, he was at a camp for Special needs people, and that he had just been punched in the wallet with a serious expense, you wouldn’t have ever guessed. Totally at peace with the things around him.

WE. ARE. OUR. OWN. WORST. ENEMY.

B gets on me on occasion about word choices I use: usually some derogatory way I talk about myself. And I admit, I have been doing it for years; since at least the third grade,,, And in some ways, its my strength, but its also a serious handicap. My strength when I use it as a lever to get my ass off the floor and make another go at it (like my own internal Drill Instructor). My handicap when it wins out and I go lethargic.

You have to be careful with YOUR words, especially internally, because those words feed the feeling-mind, and the feeling-mind is the one behind the wheel of your personal clown car you call life.

I procrastinate. especially in my own little realm of life. And that procrastination will build and eat at me until I get fired up to fix things. I give others way more energy and time than I give myself until my needs become overwhelming. I know I am not alone in this regard. Consider my recent post on ‘grifters’ and where I was talking about monetizing this blog in some way shape or form: I have been researching how for 2 years now, have several options, and still I do nothing,,, Why? I hesitate because it would then become a JOB; at least, that’s what some internal dialogue inside is saying.

it may not be much, but those ‘words’ and feelings have a big impact on my actions towards moving this blog forward.

more later as I go get some water time in.

oh I so wish,,,,

*** and phone upgraded as well as WP switching this app over to Jetpack,,, It is ‘learning’ my writing style and keeps offering suggestions, and absolutely DISTRACTING the shit out of me.***

Mark E. be having fun on the water today. He is in wide open shallow water , with strong winds . Thing is he is currently in between two inlets and probably fighting stiff currents too. You can tell by his zig zagging course. All developed property on both shores , so no place to go but onward north. Several miles to the next chance of shelter,…stay tuned.
Currently he’s around a hundred miles south of me.
Lots of spoil islands to camp on. Once he clears Ft. Pierce inlet.

    • i hadn’t pulled up his feed yet. kinda figured he would be fightng currents in the inlets. he’ll be talking to peeps in the marinas soon to figure out the lay of the currents, tidal born or wind born, etc. and I would bet he gets (if he hasn’t already) a tides app on his phone. He’s gonna need it. I know in SC, tides can run several feet in change and make a HUGE impact on currents in tidal rivers.

    • Looking at the sat image of the area, you can see the current flow in the underwater sands,,,, He’s running straight into that current,,, and all those daggum docks stickin way out in the water, he can’t get a lee shore to break the flow.

It gets better when you get north of the next causeway. At least he’s currently pulled to shore at a park area. Bet he’s plum tuckered out. The Ft. Pierce inlet just north of him is a deep water inlet , if he can catch it at high tide where he is now , be an easy ride out.
That cold front is approaching , but wind is out of the SW now but will likely be NW by tomorrow.

      • After seeing his flight across the Okochobee, he’s got this, but yeah, plum tuckered out, That zig-zagging, paddling more miles than you actually traverse,, woof!!! He’ll probably catch lunch, check the tide tables (if he has access) and figure out his afternoon is going to be much easier, OR, he’s walking around to find owners and get permission to camp in place for the night.

THAT RIGHT THERE is some solid gold advice Dio. Nobody can give me a verbal beat down like my own damn self, and it is highly destructive. I need to knock that shizz off!

  3. OK, no bullshit… that last pic you poasted of the single tree in ‘Idunnowhere’… dude… That I had as My “Wake Up” pic every morning in Iraq… I had that -exact- pic blown up to ‘wall sized’ (think it was 6×9) and put it/mounted it at the foot of my bed, so when I woke up -THAT- was my first glimpse of life for that day, every day… Granted a nice fantasy, but, Helped get me thru every. single. shitfilled. day because of it…

Man… good memories of Ye Olde Iraq Casa… so simple, so restricted and so -just me-… sometimes I still wish I was living there
