Bloggers, Grifters and the REAL ENEMY

Over at Big Country’s place, he mentions someone in comments (likely deleted, can’t find it myself) was calling him a grifter for running his Save Adriana Grace campaign.

Jebuz in a hand basket,,,, I swear to DOG! people think writing is the easiest thing in the world or something. I’ll tell ya right now, coming up with something at least once a day can be hellish, EVEN WITH the writing prompts the real world supplies us. And that’s not counting the days where you just don’t feel like it,, Thats just the everyday ‘gotta post sumpin’ and the “I WANT TO WRITE,,, ” days,,,, all lumped together,,,,

Oh, I can write all sorts of stuff, and have, including flat fictional accounts ‘just for giggles’, and to give y’all something to keep coming back for,, but it can be WORK, especially when you realize this writing thing takes time out of my life and I don’t expect any compensation for it: its more a work of love, and in some cases SANITY VALVE.

That’t not to say I couldn’t monetize the site, and in such a way that it would affect the readers wallet, or I could do what others have done and shift over to sub-stack and charge a subscription fee, or even do that here, with tiers of membership, BUT, and heres the rub,,, IF I WERE TO DO THAT,,,, This would become a JOB and I can promise, things would fall off a bit in content. Especially at first as I made the transition,,,

BUT, thats not the point of this, If a guy is asking for money to help a cause, thats not “Unethical”, and you can see that BCE puts a lot of effort into getting his Granchillun into a much better state of being, he documents it as best he can (considering the environment we live in and the screwy nature of law and such,,,) but one only needs one run-in where you need a LAWdawg to know how much that shit is gonna run you,,, Personally, I think his Funds Goal is on the low side,,,

Seriously, I have ‘blegged’ once+ on a different site (but the records of that can be dug up in the archives of this one.) where I was on the road, traveling for work/PatComs, and blew the engine in my RV,, I was doing the work myself, while living on a friends back-forty, but machine shop services cost and I wasn’t making a dime at that point. Rusty, one of my readers slammed out that BLEG, shaming my other readers or something and suddenly my PP account was ringing. I was given just enough to get the heads machined PROPERLY and finished the fix, and was able to fill the tank on the beast (no mean feat, a 50 gallon tank when gas was up to $3/gal under OBlammmy,,, About like now under Xi-den,,,,). But that was IT,,, I was able to do the job and get back on the road and never asked again.

and the shitty thing being, I caught hell for that from some that I felt were friends; that I shouldn’t have asked (I didn’t, but that’s beside the point), nor should I have accepted the monies.

Why shouldn’t I? Because I have this bottomless fount of words that has no physical needs or desires? That I have callouses on my finger tips from wearing the letters off keyboards ‘just because’? (and thats a no-shitter, both of those keyboards I recently was given, have POLISHED keys now,,,, Yeh, been busy and what you see here is only a part of that busy,) Hell, I would love for this blog to make a dime or two on occasion, but I, being the lazy shit I can be when it comes to some things, haven’t made the efforts to transition it and I worry that doing so will change the content I put out to some extent. Not accepting any coin, I get to say whatever the hell I want to, when I want to, and if ya don’t like it, don’t read it. If you are paying, I would feel obligated to churn out a ‘different’ product, especially if someone tossed a grenade in comments about something I said. (maybe,,, depends on if said grenade had merit or was just some asshat with the Feelz,,,)

Like some cartoonist recently; and there is reason to think his move was VERY intentional, so that he could lose the national contracts and take his stuff full on private mode, like through sub-stack or some-such. If that be the case, a BOLD Business move so to speak, but a calculated one, and one based on the “Even Negative publicity is PUBLICITY.” Just as I mentioned in a comment recently, If I were to get the attention for saying something such as he has, my blog would explode overnight,,, (side note about that ‘negative publicity thing’. Had a local band, decent even, that wanted better turn-outs, so they hired two strippers to ‘play’ on the downstage edge one night. The local cops arrested all of them and the usual legal hi-jinks ensued, and the event made it to the papers. Later that same year, they did a ‘reunion’ event and the place was standing room only, with local FD handling the overflow, and the band had me install an outside system so people weren’t ‘left out’. All by design, and Solly was the one that said those words to me “even bad publicity is good when you aren’t known.”,,,). Scott Adams has made bank on getting cut by the major distributors, and I would bet he doubles or triples his income over the next year or two. What looks bad from one angle is a gold mine from the other,,,

But lets talk about the REAL ENEMY,,, It’s not just Government, though that is the instigator in most all cases,,, It started with the Academics, infiltrated by Communists/Marxists and has trickled up through all the main branches of the Societal River: Media, and Government etc. BUT Where it’s really making its mark is everyday joe/jane on the street: that BIG LIE is permeating even thier thought processes because we are bombed by it daily,,, That little four frame cartoon I linked/posted in my last post shows how INSANE things have become because those ways of thinking are ‘Acceptable’ by the society at large. OR SO THEY WANT US TO THINK.

Come out of the big cities and see how that sort of thinking will carry you through your day. Pull that shit in the local grocery store here and you may find your car in a slag heap when you come out, or at least a couple flat tires or three.

THE REAL ENEMY is US. Allowing those that encourage this line of thinking free rein has led us to this point and the reason it has been allowed to propagate so far is OUR, “we just wanna be left alone” stance. WE follow our own advice but the other side doesn’t and it makes us our own worst enemy. WE don’t get in their faces, grab ’em by the belt and bust their chops when they ‘tread on us’, so they keep going and going and going,

and here we are.

I don’t have a solution. I don’t want to be the ‘enforcer’ or anything and I am highly suspicious/biased/prejudiced of that whole ‘There aughta be a law” crap. You can NOT legislate morals,,,, EVER. And what we are seeing is LACK of moral code, and that goes back to upbringing/education,,, and
