As in “not a” damned thing welded on this trailer. Thats actually a good thing for me right now. Tools, some free-all to bust the rusty parts loose, bloody knuckles to glue ’em back together and appease and receive blessing from the god Mech-a-nik,,,, Busted trailer with dog legged axle is now sitting true and has new bushings in the sprrings as well.
Spent a little using the Oxy/acetylene torch to turn steel into a pliable and forgiving form so that getting things back to true was easier, but hey, its still a $200 trailer. Now I can focus on making the tacks for the kayaks, witing lights (replacing the tail lights I broke, Oops) and general “make-er-purty” stuff. I might be redneck in my approach, but things don’t need to look redneck,,,
Sorry, took lots of pics while texting a friend, but can’t find the blasted things in my phone to share. I make sure to get them of the racks while I am working on those and use WP to do so and not ‘lose them’.
One good thing about todays project; i now know that trailer intimately and if anything gets out of sorts, I will know it fast and what I need to do to correct it. May not be a built from scratch trailer, but with how far I tore it down today, may as well have been.
Domestic duties and kayak racks tomorrow.
