Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

When the obvious is ignored

Hat Tip to spud for the muse inspiration this AM.

Heres the inspiration,,

And here is the muse.

I’ve been saying this since 2005 when I was touring still. “Common sense isnt common any longer! ”

Common core curriculum has been destroying Common sense since I was in school. It has been an incremental issue. Every year ratchets up the ‘dumb’ just a wee bit more. And it has been exponential.

History has been expunged from schools, where it hasnt been warped and twisted. Facts are ignored over feelings. And logic? Ask someone under 20 about it and you will likely get a quizical look and asked ‘logistics?’.

The Church says Pride is a sin.

That in mind, I think we are a VERY sinful society because far too many are proud of themselves with zero reason to be proud. They barely make it living a life, have accomplished nothing, and are rewarded for failing.

What are they proud of? Stupidity? A genetic accident? Being able to suck wind? Or cut wind?

Counter example: a friend of mine slapped my back with Kudos, for being a “published author”. I was embarrassed by the praise! Not because her statement wasnt true, but because in this day and age it takes only effort to get published. It takes talent and skill and maybe a little luck to get to be a well known “Published author”. The first title meant less to me than her and I strive to become the second, and until I see numbers of regular sales with 5 digits or more, I will not be the last. Its not a point of pride for me because I haven’t achieved my goals.

On the other hand, I am quite proud of my kayaks I have built and show them off whenever ANYONE takes a notice and will elaborate on all the efforts I put into them. They are exactly (mostly) what I was trying to achieve when I started.

Achievements are something to be proud of. Existence at the mercy of a protective society is not an achievement.

The movie ” Idiocracy ” is upon us I fear. But either way regardless on your books – I think it’s awesome you are taking initiative. Many people dream of it but never take the next step.

    • And you’re right of course. How many write and sit on the manuscript for decades until its found by the survivors. Even major authors do it. Heinlein had a couple found after his death .
I almost did it this time: instesd of sitting on it fo, yet another re-write, I said to hell with it, publish now or never do it all.
