Fugly autumn weathers, typical of this time of year, of course, no complaint, just an observation.
Gonna be a work-a-day for Ol’ Dio. Muchos to be done, but wanna slow start up, no stress, no rush, do it right, McGyver to my best.
And what the hay, do domestics while I’m at it. Laundry at Unks ol’place. the washer is slow, but by Dawgum, it does a far better job at getting my mucky-grungy clothes clean. (newer model than Da’s 30yo unit.) I’ll be in and out of there most of the day since I moved the welder over there yesterday. Kept inside, under lock and key away from BadCuz,,, Yeah, in the living room: me such a redneck! LOL (the beauty of that, Unk has a ramp off the front stoop: much easier to bring it out where I can use it.)
Ordered electronic components to build a controller. Still have my old bread board for design/prototyping (honestly, Forgot I even had one!!!) And I have several options available for the motors: really it all boils down to amps and volts at this stage. Or should I say stages as one is low volt (3-9)and the other is high(12-24). Total cost in order was $27, and I ordered the bulk packs of 10 /20 each (was less than individuals) I’ll have extra for later projects of whatever comes down my way.
I rilly miss RadioShack,,, Anyone else on that bandwidth?

Busted into my library as well. Mostly digi stuff in that book, but enough analog stuff that I can make this work. No real designs (past the educational projects) but enough good info to work up what I need. Found that one at halfprice books in Cincy and snagged it years back. Glad I did. Even then, it was almost $10. You can probably find a copy on the Zon, and pay over $30 for it now. (and I do believe he added another further edition with more projects later down the road. Good stuff, well laid out and HORRID puns included.)(updated for links: not as expensive as I thought, and second edition is a different author. )
I’m more mechanically inclined. I just dabble in the electronics. I understand how to use digi stuff, but analog makes more sense to me, even when it does Wyrd things. After years in the audio field, believe me, I’ve seen some truly strange electronic behaviors. (Phantom power leaking through Bakelite, causing signal crosstalk across 24 channels! Seen it! HEARD IT, still no understanding of WHY,,, or HOW.)
Todays list is to set the incline adjuster (latitude adjustment) and Figure some mechanical stops so the thing gets limited longitudinal sweep. I hadn’t built them in. None of this is blueprinted; all of it is rednecked ‘make it work’, straight out of the pocket and a bit of ‘well, That needs fixed before something comes apart in the wind.’ Solar panels are really good at pretending to be sails. Gotta lock them down tight, but you still want things loose enough to be able to move.
And since I probably am getting VERY limited power production today, I will move the rest of the panels over, and the wiring in. Gonna be much easier digging the trench for the conduit since its been wet the last 18 hours. I’ll use a ratchet strap to secure the array while I build the controller for the linear actuator. That whole ‘wind can do bad things’ in mind while she sits and waits.
y’all take care today, Pics will be posted as I remember to take them, and I’ll be back later (or tomorrow) with more
