This controller issue where I haven’t enough power from panels to do it the ‘dumb’ way. Just not enough amperage to push the motor in the actuator. (actually, more than enough, IF that motor didn’t have 1/2bhp loaded up before it sees any real load.)
Huh? ya lost us Dio.
Small 2A motor. reduction geared to drive a lead screw. LOTS of resistance to movement, hence why it needs a 2A motor to move things. Hope that clarifies,,,
Ok, got that. How ya gonna fix it?
That temporary wiring I already have in place to get electrons to the battery bank is getting replaced with heavier. Instead of pulling it, I put in the trench with the new. I’m gonna use that to power the actuator from the existing bank instead of using something locally to the post. The circuit board I have yet to come up with will be two power sources. One,side of it using a 6v solar cell for the signal side. Theres enough juice in that (and thinking of adding a larger capacitor as a ‘battery’ to steady the power.) to trip relays. The relays will be ‘half’ fed from the 12v house system to power the actuator.
Is this written in stone yet? Hell no! I’m still doing the math side of things, and uncertain about how to control a DC motor with relays for opposing polarity/direction. I know its ‘doable’, but I don’t know specifically ‘how’. Thats the benefit of fingerin’ this stuff out. You don’t EVER forget lessons you learn in this manner.

and now the lane change.
I am getting to the point where I do NOT like the LLM’s/AI. Not because they aren’t good tools, but because I see how easy it could be to lean on them for information instead of going through the flaming hoops of self-education. If you are able to get the information you need ‘right now!’, what did you learn? Will you retain that information? or will you be right back to the tool then next time you need that very same information?
In otherwords, I can see AI/LLM’s become CRUTCHES, not tools.
And I see it daily on Utoob. AI generated voice overs, and you start to see common ‘verbal ticks’ that scream “AI!” It gets VERY irritating. Not all content producers use it, but enough, and a growing number. And that leads me to ‘is what this content saying, TRUE?’ It’s already been proven that AI, LLM’s, Chatbots, DO lie. Not that they are being of ill-intent in doing so, but that the parameters they learned were skewed for a certain output by positive feedback loops. They want that ‘thumbs up’. And just who was providing that feedback? Many times now, since things have taken off so well, that feedback is from other LLM’s.
It’s already gotten to the point where ‘AI slop’ is common vernacular and highly under-rated for the actual problem. Then you have THIS,,,
And for some reason, the CEO’s are calling for Government intervention,,, WHY? Can’t they control their own creations? No, this whole AI thing is starting to smell like last weeks fish. I see the whole of it collapsing in the next couple of years. Yet another tech bubble.
Full confession, I have been discussing with Claude, my design for the controller. Thats when I realized the trap. Too EASY, and too easy means I will have learned not a thing. Yes, there were some good points about flyback spikes and needing to protect circuits (relays and transistors) from such. I didn’t ask for details, I’ll do the math meself. But the temptation was there. THAT’S THE TRAP!
How many don’t see it?

I think thats about enough of reflecting on societal crap,,, time to get the slide rule out and start figuring the real math out. (And that slide rule,,, I have three. I wish I had been introduced to it at a much younger age because it really helped me see how numbers relate to each other in way mere words never could. )
More laters, No pics today as I haven’t done anything you could see anyway (unless you like looking at trenches,,, wyrd.)
