Long day, came home and played

9 hours.  coulda been 10 but hadn’t cleared it with the bosses yet.  Got the thumbs up for the week since I have something on the order of 3 pages of fabrications need made.  (figure three per page, give or take, just in my notes.)

But came home and was like, THIS will be decided tonight!

First position.

Not fully extended.  Was nervous at first.   see below as to why.

Evidence A:

Evening sun is always a bit weaker due driving through more atmo before impact with panels.

Position 2!

Evidence B.

Most striking the difference in amps between the two.  Position 2 is the east facing morning position and the thing (eventually) will follow the sun all day long.

I was nervous at first because I wasn’t aware that this actuator had limit switches built in.   It do!!! Hot damn! that makes my life so much simpler.

Obviously, this isn’t ready for primetime just yet.  I had to play around with where to place the ends, and that may change some.  It might bind when in the full summer position (more pointing straight up).      This is NOT a weak actuator.  Its designed to move gates up to 1000#.   And there will be a fast blow fuse in the lineup somewhere just in case it hits that binding.  No need to burn things up or turn racks into pretzels.  Because its not ready for prime time yet, I went ahead and moved into a general angle and parked it.

But I am actually quite happy with what I saw tonight.   I have another latitude adjuster bar and new linkage at the rack end; but want to make the holes in the bar work by the rack angle, not just spaced out every inch like whats in there currently.   And this one is longer so I won’t hit the max angle as fast.  I’d do this tonight, but you can see in the pics, the light was already failing.   Its still light out, but that won’t last much longer.   No rush, its getting there and I have a controller that needs built (and awaiting parts to do so.)
