tracing down an electrical issue in my batterybank/solar panels.
Something took a chomp of wires (prolly me while weedeating) and my panels decided sometime in the last 96 hours to short to ground. No power to bank, but bank still in use,
And went bankrupt. Was sitting in the house when it happened. Knew issue at once as I watched the ceiling fan wind down to stand still. OhChit! Start looking!!!
I say 96 hours because thats my reserve for no sunlight days. Probably been getting weaker as time went on and this has been a growing problem for a couple of weeks. Problem being, Its been so reliable, I got lazy and stopped eyeballing things on the regular. Had I been looking at charge and bank, I would have spotted a problem before it bit me. As it was, I found the break at dusk and did the repair under headlamp. With the solar panels Diode protected, and the system fuse protected, nothing let the magic smoke out; just depleted my reserves. I currently have the little genny running as a battery charger to bring things back up overnite, and will be looking at performance when the sunrays start hitting.
Guess I’m back at paranoid levels again for a while.
So, No way to charge the phone (well, not true, I have Twuck and Buff, ) so short post with no filler.
