Love hate relationships,,,
Updating Macbook to newer (not newest, she isn’t compatible) OS and during the download session, my charging cable fritzed out. Transformer end hotter than my Dads coffee. No power to the lappy.
Wellzzz going through the process of upgrade, (OS downloaded) and hit that “Your computer is not connected to a power source, you must connect to shore power” Um,,, well, chit!
Zon to save the day, but not today. gonna be a few days before I have the new one in hand, and I’ma bettin’, I have to go through ALL OF THAT again,,,, I didn’t shut down, I just closed the lid (sleep mode) hoping that things hang on just a bit while waitng on this part.
I’m glad as heck Lappy isn’t my main squeeze for getting to information. (that may change with this update, will see. She may turn into a sluggish turd too.)
Just too many things now requiring a more recent version.
It seems like the tech is always racing and racing, but improvements are questionable. I recall programs running Kb, not Gb and be perfectly functional and un-buggy. Granted, I realize that the interfaces and all the pretty graphics hog most of that, but,,,,
Yeah,, I’m an old ‘puter dinosaur.

sigh,,, love it hate it, but ya kinda gotta have it in this day and age (at least if you don’t wanna live under rocks and rub the sticks together.)(admittedly, there are days where that sounds downright pleasant to this ol fart.) (Note: my dad is THE Luddite with Tech. I get hit at least once a week to clear up his phone (flip-phone) or fix the smart TV because he is a happy clicker with the remote. (how he inverted the screen that once, I will never know. It took me an hour to figure out where it was buried in settings.)
In the meantime,,, I’ll pull out the old Mac that I converted to a Linux box, IF I need heavier firepower in my searches.

I’m an architect and use a Windows XP machine for all my business apps. My AutoCAD is the 2004 version. Just bought a “like new” refurbished Dell desktop on amazon last month and switched out the hard drives and I was back in business in a day or 2. XP was the last, and best, Windows worth having. The 10 and 11 are complete trash.

I gave up on win-doze after the last BSoD. Agreed on XP was the best and even have install discs for it, but hate the fight and workarounds needed to get it to work in laptops
