Slow start, no rush, side gigs lined up for today. Easing into the day, no thoughts about appeasing a crew that doesn’t wanna work in the heat, or,,
Nopes, just ease into the coffee, watch the world start up, the Titmice stealin’ kittehkibble, teasin’ the Mama-kat watching intently nearby. Whats I has to do ain’t goin’ nowhere fast and the need to be done is ‘when you can get to it’. Doesn’t mean I’m lolligaggin’, just not gonna bust my nuts over it, either.
And I’ll make more today in a few hours, than I do busting out a 10 hour day at the J.O.B. ; even after accounting for my costs.
And I’ll do that without rapin’-n-robbin’ my customers. I could charge more, (and in one customers instance, DO. don’wanna work on thier POS.) but thats not the point. Do good work, charge a fair rate, keep growing a customer base and in doing so, grow my means of independence.
I could so get used to this. My stress levels are WAY-LO right now.

Some of my thoughts about yesterdays post, and “how could it be improved?”
One thing would be to establish set criteria for Elector status. Our universal Elector status has turned into that very disease the Greeks warned us about. And so many have stated that to be fair (I despise that word) universal suffrage is the way to go. WRONG. Make the criteria fixed and finite, and you eliminate the sex, creed, color, religious aspects. Say a property owner of X amount of land, or productive business generating X revenues. Doesn’t account for sex, or color or beliefs, just “Active member of society” and has some skin in the game. And the level doesn’t change. You hit Elons level, you don’t get MOAR votes: nopes, just the one, just like the mom and pop shop down the street that barely keeps the lights on. Own 4000 acres of farm land; you get the same ONE VOTE as the guy scraping out a truck garden on his 1 acre plot.
And then I re-read Micheal Z Williamsons “Freehold”series and think,,, theres an even BETTER way. Make those that want power EARN it,,, Not by voating or charisma contests. You have to build a small empire, then SURRENDER it to the ‘state’ to be called ‘Citizen’.
Seriously, if you have not read the series, just digging into the descriptions of the Freehold system of governance is worth the read. The whole is a spectacular peice of speculative fiction, and holds water on several counts, and is even an attention grabber for escape from the daily routine.
Heres another thought. Lets do away with the charisma schtick completely and do a random lottery of the electorate for 4 year positions. Prez, Rep, Congress critter, etc. Bureaucrats get hired on 2 year contracts, with no option to re-up in sequence (they can re-apply after 2 years hiatus.) And Judicially appointments FOLLOW the appointees time in. IE, Prez appoints 9 justices for SCOTUS, but they don’t take seat until that Prez leaves his seat. This removes any temptation to pack a court for personal gain.
None of the above would be lifetime tenure. EVER. Who needs term limits when the whole thing is term limits written in from word go.
And none of this ‘Salary’ bullshit. Per Diem only. You have access to the medical the military gets as a benefit; WHILE IN OFFICE and no more. No golden parachute retirement packages. (and I would bet the military medicine gets even better in due course. Currently its a bog of red-tape and politics.)
Never gonna happen, eh? Yah, prolly not. but one can think about this shit, and maybe, just maybe, if things do make radical changes in collapse, be a voice of reason like Jefferson, Franklin, et al,,,, or at least an anonymous one as in the Federalist/anti-Federalist papers. Heck, just putting a bug in peoples heads to chew on may start a longer term evolution to something even better.
I hold little hope that Human Nature will evolve so far that TRUE libertarian Society could come to be, (and not in my lifetime for certain) but, if we don’t talk, we don’t grow, and entropy is a fact that can’t be ignored.(Entropy is how we ended up with the charisma lairds for F!s sake.)
