So what did Dio do to shut off the words that he has been complainin’bout?

WORK,, Sorta, not the paying type, not really.

Da did pay me to run the trimmer around his beehives. He is still having ‘alignment’ issues with his sight, and between LIVE hives and an electric fence,,, Yah,,, Dio do! Singin’ a little song the whole time “I’s just a simple minded hoomanzzz,,,, Not tryin’ to mess with your Queenships broodzzz,,, Please don’t sendz zee warriors out to light mine arse on Firezzzz,,,,,” LOL I guess it worked,, The only ‘interaction’ that took place was I stepped in way of a returning scout and she got hung up in my hair for a second. Gave me a dirty look but didn’t get mad.

Fixed Da’s water heater. Safety valve was starting to pop open and needed replaced. thats a $25 part these days Sheesh, sin’t nuthin cheep anymore.(dads words LOL,,, like no shit huh?)

then I came home and monkeyed with Bloo. that misfire on #4 (and occasion #3) Pulled the old spider off BlooBlock thats crapola. Swapped out spiders ‘just because’. Pulled the cover off the evens side and and adjusted valves while running too. I noted that the manifold over #4 looked like it had been getting really hot. Thinking that maybe the intake was hanging open a hair, letting hot exhaust back into the manifold/plenum area. Valve was out of adjustment; too tight, backed off a full two turns to ‘tappity-tappity-tappity’ then tightend back up about 1/2 turn to shsshhhhhhhshh. Made a hella mess to: this engine has really good pressure and flow.

Hooked the scan tool back up and was eyeballing things,, Still has miss on 4 and three. Better, not as often, but still there. Unfortunetly, i can’t look at misfire data and EGR position at the same time, but I am starting to think that there is a coorelation there. When Bloo is cooled back off, I””m gonna pull the plug and take a looksee. may even swap plug with 2 and see if the misfire follows.

See, when I am doing stuff with the hands, the mind stops trying to label every single little stinking thing. Its dials down to visuals of things my eyes can’t see: like that one bolt on the back of the head that you can feel, and almost get at. I visualize what my fingers are doing and the ‘words’ go buhbye! Its not silence, but is useful so not irritating. Or like trying to figure out whats going on in this engine. Was thinking ‘icky injector’ causing issues, but thats not it. Valve issues: not it. EGR? very possible, Bad Plug? possilbe as well. Bad wire? equally possible. And when I am thinking about this stuff, I am not thinking in words, but visualizing how it all works together. (really leaning towards that EGR issue too. the vent into the manifold is right between 3&4,,,)

So many ways to check this stuff and sometimes, just moving a part over one place may show the problem. I’d love to have one of the oldskool O-scopes that could handle the HEI systems. That would show me a shit ton of information these little scan tools can’t.

Really though, all of this is ‘just details’. She runs good, its just a small window where she has a miss and its just irritating me. Dad couldn’t tell when he was in the truck with me, but I FEEL it,,, (and the scanner concurs.)

So that was my day. Doin’! Something, not sitting and wallowing in self pity or allowing the spirit to dwell on shit out of my control.
