highly productive day today. Only paddled for an hour, but that hour was informative, educational, spiritually cleansing, and the perfect Ground and Center that I needed after the last two days of dealing ‘teh stoopid’, Sixty minutes (a touch more actually) and only one stop and that for a picture. BIG eagles nest though I never saw its occupants.
oh, and I got a call from Bossman (only it wasn’t bossman, he let the fool use his phone THANK YOU instead of giving him my number) to come and pop a lock on an Emp’s car: they locked themselves out in the most ingenious of ways,,,, Disconnected the battery on a ‘Hicle that doesn’t have keys,,, one of those with a radio keyfob. Amazingly, it does have pushknob locks and that was his only saving grace to getting back on the road. So Dio had to pull out another of his ‘hats’ to go save the day for dumbunny,,,,
tomorrow is going to be laundry and making sure I have all of the stuff I need for Buffalo and her surgery. Wanna double check/triple check because if I don’t, I need to get it coming ASAP. I want this chore done and complete by Wednesday eve at the latest. I froze my bum off driving to the lake today, and it was 53 outside. And that didn’t improve much even into the afternoon, and the temps are slotted to fall into FREEZE zone tonight. Fire built and warming the stove up to operating temps so I am not burning mad propane tonight. I do like the way I can be lazy on cool nights, but anything below 40, a fire is mandatory IMO.
Neck gasket repair on the drytop was a complete success. Used it today, even though it was overkill and by the time I was back at shore, I was wet, but not from leaks, SWEAT. No venting to speak of, and I have suspicions that Gore-tex is something of an overhyped snakeoil solution. It may allow some moisture through in one direction, but it wasn’t letting much out,,, I vented once by the neck gasket and that helped, but man,,,, Another of those peices of gear I have bought over the years that is worth the price of admission and use. Just have to be more judicious in WHEN its used and make sure I treat the gaskets with TLC as needed.
And now that I know what the hell I am doing, the ‘Not Dry Drysuit’ is going to get ankle gaskets installed. Laters though,, Need to have a couple of good weeks upcoming to make up for the lost revenue of the upcoming surgery week on Buff.
