Not gonna give deets, but my little trip to hobofreight came to almost 1/2 of what expected to drop. My ITC membership discount paid for my membership fee for 2 years. I had HF money to the tune $25 (granted, this is also represented in what I’ve spent in the past, but coupons add up too.) Expected to pay almost 200, came to 125 otd.
2 more panels to add to array, some of those MC4 connectors to make tie in weather resistant (and not jury rigged)
And I came home and set the new post (6″I-beam 6′ long ) to mount all of this stuff to. Won’t be mounting jack today: green concrete in hole, and I still need to fabricate stuff.
Plans are to get it closer to ground for a couple reasons. 1)less likely for wind sheer effects thanks to the ground effect and 2) easier to clean off snow in winter. Also, more moving parts means more maintaining. Keep it where I ain’ta climbing ladders n such.
More moving parts? Yup, a U-joint mount for X-Y axis (lube points) an adjustment that locks for x, and the pivots for the linear actuator(Yaxis).
I even have old weights for a counterbalance to ease stress on the actuator.
So, I’m back at it, making stuff to make it work, and will be playing with that actuator and a couple old panels left from the RV as ‘sensors’. So I’ll leave y’all to your Sonday with a “Love y’all” and a Stay Curious
