couple of posts lately about Gen-X (m-m-m-my g-g-generation) and a couple about anarchy,,,,
Come to think about it, Gen-X are ‘natural’ anarchists,,, we grew up pretty much under our own rules, that we had to come up with, and MOST of us turned out alright. There were certain rules in place but for the most part “be home when the street lights come on” was about the extent of it. And our punishments tended to be more feral than “time outs”,,,
I have noted that when I talk anarchy with certain types, the Gen-X usually ‘get it’ fastest. The ‘boomer’ crowd tends to buck and cringe (though not completely true, there is a lot of cross over at the turning point decade; those born around 1960.) And the Millenials? HA!!! they were raised under statist controls, and would probably freeze like a deer in headlights if someone told them they had to make a choice, with no input they weren’t ‘given’ first. (they would probably freeze solid if they had to answer an essay question too,,,,)(again, not ALL of them: I have met some that were quite ‘Gen-X’ in thier demeanor and thinking,,,, Depends on where they were raised I think.)

I am not trying to preach here, but if you have never looked past your ‘fixed’ beliefs, how do you know if they are “Truth”? Give it a listen and see what you think, and if part way through it, you freeze at some concept, ask yourself “why?”: you might find its programmed into you to ‘block’ such thinking,,,,

Sounds to me that he is just describing the principles of Libertarians. I suppose you could view anarchy from that viewpoint too.
Though , I personally believe that many of less moral character. Are held in check by ROL. Without a speed limit a certain few would likely think cruising at 100 mph is just fine lol. Hell even with the laws , a certain few do so…hard to say what those same types might do in a WOROL WORLD.

That’s how we ended up with organized religion , governments and all the rules hmm. Be nice if we were self governed but…

Sounds like just another ‘lets rename something, or redefine it’,,,, Won’t argue that,,,, Libertarianism, Volunteerism, Anarchism,,, Many of the same principles, one of which you are familiar with I’m certain: NAP non-agression principle. not to say the person is 100% peace-nik,,, more that they won’t initiate violence, but they sure as shit will END it,,,, “don’t start nuthin’ won’t be nuthin’ things.
I don’t know if you realized the faliacies you jumped through to reach the conclusion you did though. WE ARE SELF GOVERENED NOW,,,, its the ones that don’t see the self risk that are the ones that give the whole a bad name: those few that know the chance of them getting busted by the fuzz when they go busting ass @ 100mph down a neighborhood back road, because the Cops number 1:10000 in that area,,,, What would happen if suddenly that ratio dropped to 1:10 ? Tyranny, right? OR Because we were no longer shuffling off the responsiblilies of “enforcement of societal rules’ (speeding can kill the kids playing in the streets, bad mojo rule) and that same person decided to do that, but was suddenly faced with every other mother on that street holding hammers or large beer mugs and ready to throw them through said doods windsheild if he FAFO’ed? Think he would keep it up? The problem with Law is that we “let go” our responsibility of self governing, and keeping the peace, and in short order, those people take on some mythical powers they don’t have and the cycle of letting go responsibility keeps moving downward.
And we end up in a society where “Me me me me” is the norm,,,,
and here we are,,,, We let go the responsibility and became a society of children. Why do you think the age to drink keeps rising while the voting age drops? Is it because the minds are smarter to vote with or that they are more malleable to programming so as to keep those that WANT the power IN the power?
I could turn this into BOOKS of arguments, but Larken already has,,, Claire Wolfe already has,,, a list of others already have,,,, and the strawman fallacies always come back to haunt,,,, It’s easier to let someone else handle it, and thats the real problem,,, Not WOROL which gets waysided by laziness. Harder to teach responsibility and make people like it, especially when they have never had need of it because it was never given to them to choose.

I think man has inherently chose to pass the buck on behavior issues. Primarily because he is lazy. Both in mind and body. Taking the easy route has appeal , since we crawled out of that cave.
Self rule has been tested and failed throughout history… Why ? IMO, because of that sloth , thinking is hard don’t you know. Consequence of action takes deep thought in advance. Few care to do this.
