It’s really straight forward. ASK,,, If you need something, or need something FROM someone, ASK,,,,
Caught Cuz taking parts off my donor truck. I was coming back from the store yesterday and he was walking the drive back to his place and had stainless steel brake lines in his hands. I stopped and he told me (never asked if it was ok,) he had taken them. Ok, I can forgive a small amount, since he did admit to it, Only I KNOW, deep in my soul, that had I not caught him in the E&E, I would never have been told, ever, and I would have had to find out by deduction, just like when his old lady stole from my change jar while I was at work.
BUT
Today, that truck is locked up, and a cable ran through the hood to the bumper with a stout lock on it, and the words ASK written in large letters across the top of the hood.
I don’t abide thieves. My daddy beat that shit out of me at a young age and I reinforced that learning as an adult. What I have, I have earned in some way and legally OWN. I didn’t take it or feel obliged to it because I ‘needed it’, I knew I needed it and found some way to make the transaction that both parties were happy with. FAIR EXCHANGE, not just ‘take it’.
It’s taken me 15 years to get back to where I am after a nasty split that left me with what I could fit in my car and little else. If I feel a little posssesive of my stuff, there is DAMNED GOOD REASON.
Hates thieves,,,,,
Luckily, his ‘ol lady is back in jail,,,, Parole violations.
Honestly, I just want the whole lot to move off this hill. He has a buyer ready and willing to buy him out, and I know the buyer and can tolerate them a whole lot easier (even though I don’t really like the person, I know they are honest and upright.) Tolerance of off personalities is much easier than tolerance of thieves and liars.
It must be Muhnday,,,, gawbless, what a start to the week.
and I built my first fire of the season tonight. Yeah, that wall heater is rawkin, but I has wood and that stove needs fired up and the chill tonight is said to drop near thirties. Fires make a house warmer, not just temp wise, and I could use that ‘homey feel’ tonight.
Didn’t realize it was that nasty of a break up w/Amy, sorry. 😦

why sorry? other then introducing us, you had no input there. That was between her and I, not you.

One a my pet peeves, too. Same outlook – all’s ya gotta do is fargin ASK, fer crying out loud! Wish ya luck with getting a new neighbor, too.
A fireplace is the best thing about winter – and no, I don’t have one. I’d like to, but I doubt I’d get to use it but a few times a year.
Y’all take care,
Mike in FLA.

I’ve put back three rows, 7′ tall, by 9′ wide, usual length wood. (about 18″) it’s seasoning now, even with the damp we have had the last couple of days (not rain, just damp,,,,) Should be really good to go by the end of the month. Took a little longer that I liked to get the stove up to good operating temps last night and then, it was blazing and I had to open the damned doors up to cool the house down enough that I could sleep,,,, Don’t think I will be doing that again for a couple more weeks, just burn the propane till I really need the heat up.
Yah, ASK, simple common courtesy,,,,, You’d think anyways,,, seems its so damned hard to do for some types,,,,
Keep on livin’,,,, don’t let the wastels drag ya down. (I keep saying that EVERY DANGED DAY, hoping it will stick, but these nut cases are really trying me,,,,)

Not quite the same, but am reminded of a friend who (once upon a time…) had a few young (not quite teen) cousins who would get into some of his stuff. They failed “Sneaking 101” even after he told them that he didn’t really mind them going though things… but if they would just Put Them Back he wouldn’t even know they’d been there. And yet they were continually surprised he was upset with them…

I would likely give him anything off the donor-truck he wanted (shy the engine and transmission, those are what I bought it for) but he just went and took stuff (and was caught doing so) Now,,, That list of whats avaiable got REAL small.

Aye, that makes a LOT of sense, it does. At the VERY LEAST, call you or leave a note – with offer to replace/return (as New Parts arrive…) if need be. But just *glom*?
Even if told to just grab anything, it’s basic courtesy to inform and ideally ask to be SURE.
