Frickin mondays,,,

Started out in a rush, backed a work truck into a ditch and had to be pulled out.

Went to install a gate we had ordered several months past: damaged in shipping with no outward signs on the package AND wrong fricking color of bronze. Old fence looks like burnished bronze thats aged, this one looks like fresh poured.

But that was the worst of it. Thanks to the small gods for the occasional kick in the pants without a bullet to the brain days.

Mamakat is beyond Grumpykat right now. She really isn’t taking to the littles I brought in. One of them isn’t adapting at all. The other is a fluff ball of joy and curiosity. And he found Voodoo’s tail. 🙀🤣 The one not adapting is okay so long as he is with his brother and the other inhabitants are vacant, or in my case, sitting stock still. The minute anything makes a noise, he is a spitting hissing growly little nightmare.

Admittedly, and I am a bit peeved at the people that did it, these two were separated from mama at least 2 weeks before they should have. I was told they were 8 weeks old and what arrived can’t be more than 5 weeks old. Some people don’t understand that just because the kits are eating solids, does NOT mean they are ready for the big world. And I think thats my spitters issue. Way too many surprises and anxiety because Mommy isn’t around, and possibly, Mamakat looks like Mommy and is being a total bitch cat to him. I’m doing what I can, but I’m afraid he may be damaged goods now. No trust because all of his trusts (with the exception of his one sib) have been broken, and he isn’t letting me establish any new ones.

Its only been 24 hours, he may settle down yet (fingers crossed). Mamakat may take a few more days as well. She stayed in the woods all night last night in protest, and when she did show this afternoon, walked up to me, sniffed and hissed at me. Then went straight to her bowl and waited for ‘her servant hooman’ to attend to her needs. Cocky elitest cat attitude the whole time she was home. She’s back out now, being the stubborn cuss she has the reputation for.

The homefront is a bit of a mess right now and its only monday.

*sigh*

The river is calling,,, 4 more days,,

  1. Give little hisser a corner with some stuff stacked in it and cover it with a tarp or blanket. Don’t mess with that corner. It gives em a place they feel like they are safe and hidden. They can control what they see and their exposure. New cats, even well adjusted seem to warm faster with that. Works for me anyhoo. Not my original idea, came from someone older and wiser than I.

    1. I always give new cats a ‘cave’. It helps the transistion and makes it so I have a start point when I need to find them. Things are improving. Held both of the littles in my lap last night with the door shut so Voo couldn’t come in. After a bit they were playing and the spitter wasn’t panicked everytime I moved. They’re both slurping down a breakfast right now while I get ready to head out and spitter isn’t all freaked out.
