Sunday wind down
Been a great weekend even though I didn’t paddle as much as I wanted, nor went overnight as I had wished. I should have spent the remaining hours at Lake Cumberland and set up camp, but,,,
Went to reservoir with dude from work today. He bought a new fishing yak and wanted someone to go with him to try it out. After yesterdays ‘battle of the waves’ , I was nearly bored to tears. Spent a few hours out, no serious paddling (both of my yaks are like a PT boat to his, which plows water like a barge.) And the fish stopped biting so called it a day.

Well, laundry doesn’t do itself, nor the grocery shopping. There are downsides to single life. (Yeah, that sounds like some horrid patriarchal ‘keep ’em barefoot n pregnant’ attitude doesn’t it. People that know me will tell you that I am not like that. )
Break down of my lessons this weekend.
- I CAN get seasick. (Dramamine purchased and in my PFD)
- Big waves are not as terrifying as I believed.
- My boat is (unintentionally) made for wildwater. (And she LOVES it)
- My Greenland paddle is a much better tool for that stuff, once one gets the hang of bracing strokes. (Which is not the same as a brace, or slap brace.)
- I still need to get my chicken shit self to learn rolling skills ( not learned, only reinforced. )
I have a hella kayaking burn going on, but with the cherokee/blackfoot blood in my veins, it will be tanned by midday tomorrow. May look a little funny with tanned arms and belly white chest,,,
But its now time to transition to work week mode: kayaks back in thier beds, gear stored to dry out the rest of the way, and tools pulled out of shed and re-installed in my tool box. (A big shiny tool box can be attractive to thieves, I empty it and leave it unlocked when I go off on weekends.)
So, nuff of the lame weekend wrapup post, y’all take care. Chat more as I start paying attention to the webs and see this weeks apocolyptic horseshit.

I see that kayaking is your new love, but do you still ride? And what caused the switch?

Easier to build kayaks on my porch. Lol.
Still want to ride, but not in this location. Too many people that’ll pull out in your path never looking. Have had too many close calls in a white pickup with daytime running lights.
