some thoughts on thuggery

April 15, 2014 by diogenesoftherifle, posted in Uncategorized

Well, Bunkerville is over. Seems everyone has had some say in their opinion of the whole thing. I was watching events unfold as best I could with the limited amount of net time I have, and keeping abreast of things via phone and text. To say the whole situation stinks would be a massive understatement. … Continue reading some thoughts on thuggery

Not a whole lot to say lately. Been hitting the delete button far more often than the save. Several of you have sent me mail, I fully intend on response, just been wrapped up in running water lines and the like. Once I get a chance to breathe, I will get back to you in … Continue reading Hittin it quick like

April 1, no foolin’

A lot of the blogs will be doing the usual April fool's thing today.  I thought about it, but to be honest, being home from work today, knocked out of the game by a wicked bronchial infection, I just ain't up to it.   In addition, this is the 10th anniversary for a highlight of my … Continue reading April 1, no foolin’

OK, to answer the question posed in the last Post, Pachabel was a mathematician and musician. The Canon is audible math. Whereas the Slide-rule is visual math. The Cadence of the Canon is represented in the log scale while the higher end strings are represented by the various other scales. Spud made comment that they … Continue reading weak week

WINGS OF CHANGE

What happens when a wounded veteran, a computer genius, and a handful of fiercely independent misfits decide that the best way to change the world is to stop waiting for someone else to do it?

G has spent years flying from a wheelchair, learning to make the sky obey him even when his body won’t. T is a computer wizard with a mysterious past, an enormous extended family, and a talent for turning impossible ideas into working machines.

Together, they build things that shouldn’t exist.

Aircraft that push the limits of what remote flight can do. Technology born in garages and workshops instead of corporate boardrooms. And a community of people who have decided that family isn’t necessarily something you’re born into.

But building extraordinary machines attracts attention.

Soon G, T, and their growing family find themselves caught between government agencies, competing agendas, and people who would very much like to know exactly what they’re capable of. What began as tinkering and experimentation is becoming something far more consequential.

Because when you build something powerful enough to change the rules, eventually somebody comes looking for the keys.

A beginner’s guide to going off grid. how to evaluate if you even want to make the attempt. written by the curmudgeonly author of this blog and his dog
