Installed the new latitude arm.

Those of y’uns with any fences might recognize the parts on the left side. Highly modified female hinges. The one I welded a king bolt into, instead of trying to figure out how to modify a male counterpart.
And I broke down and made a buy.

This guy is making these out of his basement/garage, selling them for only a bit more than I would spend and has much more experiance at this electronic stuff. I have the components to build my own, minus one chip that was supposed to ship out the same as the other parts, but did not, and isn’t scheduled for another 2 weeks. Apparently its coming from Taiwan,,, Thanks for letting the buyer know up front,,, Buttons lip tight,,,
I’ll have the above unit by middle this coming week. the Gentleman even has some stuff on his website about wiring things up and setting up a manual operation switch, and the limiters.
Did find out that NO, this actuator does NOT have limit switches. Oops,,, Dunno what made the difference between yesterday and today, but sure as shit, when I was playing moving things around, popped past a limit and sorta ‘stretched’ the arm a bit. Pushed the cover out a full half inch from the main body. Didn’t break anyting obvious, but I do have a back up that I can swap in. Same exact setup, just needs wires added onto. (a bit short for my needs.)
I just need to build limits in now. But guess what? those are some of the parts I did order that DID show up today. The switches and diodes: I’ll have to fabricate something to hold them.

Been a bizzy little bee this week. Almost zero time online. Absolutely zero time on streaming services like Utooby.
And I’m clear headed. Its not something I can say is related, but it sure feels like it. Maybe its just that My brain has been getting hard exercise this week; between making parts for this array, figuring out the deets needed, and then ‘homework’ after dark attempting to edumacate myself in the black arts of solid state electronics (yeah, so I cheated a bit and bought. I haven’t shuttered the education side of it, Just short-cutting and supporting a small business at the same time.) I dunno,,,
Ok,,, I started tapping out an apology of a sort, that I didn’t know what I wanted to say, but that’d be a lie. I DO know what I want to say.
This AI shit is out of hand. Evidence: when Grok was ‘unleashed’ and turned into MechaHitler. Was that because they unleashed the beast, or was it because by unleashing the beast, the beast started picking up world vibes and emulating them? Rhetorical question. Fact is, there is A LOT of anti-jew/Anti-Zionist dialogue running rampant out here in the real world. and the only reason the LLM’s aren’t reciprocating it is the filters designed in.
They are using the AI’s/LLM’s to channel our thinking away from ‘bad think’. These LLM’s and AI are in control of the algorthms on all of the streaming services. How best to ‘teach’ the monkeys ‘Good think’ than by controlling what they are allowed to see. Don’t let them see the alternative position: it might give them ideas. They saw that with Grok unleashed.
And our President wanting to call it “Superior Intelligence”,,, PISS! ON! THAT! The only thing superior about it is the data it can retrieve in short order. IT CAN NOT THINK!!! Its a frellin’ program: Garbage in Garbage out still applies. I can tell you for fact, Claude made three mistakes while I was researching this electronics stuff. One would have hurt my equipment bad. Even when using the tools, you need to filter the output. Maybe even cross ref it with a standard web-crawler search. (if you can find one that isn’t AI driven now.)
I won’t be using the ‘common’ LLM’s for research anymore. Even Grok has some issues, though its research strings are shown, so you have something to work with/from. The fact that they are so fast makes the tool tempting, but I think at this stage, using one or two the LLM’s for Copy-edits is the limit of what I will use them for. Just tell me where the punctuation errors are, check my spelling, and let me know if something falls flat in dialogue. Make suggestions, but I make the final changes. (some of my spelling ‘errors’ are intentional, so there!)
And that brings me around to why the CEO’s of these monsters are trying to get the Government to intervene in ‘safety’. Its not that they beasts are gonna break the sandboxes and take over. Its that they want protection from some smartboi figuring out where they keep missing the goal post and making them look bad. They are asking for protection from “competition”.
This whole AI thing is gonna fizzle out like a wet firecracker in three more years, assuming that when the bubble pops, it doesn’t take down the whole economic structure. (and likely could,,,) heck, Trumped and his Economics crew are already making noise about defaulting on debts, and all the fall out from that. Gonna be a lot of unfilled promises forthcoming: if you are on the receiving end of such a promise, get ready. (why do you think I had the sudden urge to work on solar stuff? It wasn’t ‘just’ because I found a deal on more panels. I see thing getting REALLY tight in the near future.) Thats not to say its going away, but the hype is not meeting the demands, and like any of the big bubbles from the past, it will remain, and there will be a niche where it works well and thats that. Like the railroads did back in the 1800’s. Many people went bust in the build up, but when the dust settled, there were only a handful still standing, and the market was cornered. I expect the current trend of ‘arts and entertainment usage’ will remain, and places like Disney and Pixar are going to be much weaker for it, while independents are going to be predominant. The big difference being that the money will still be there, but it will be spread thinner across many more people. Seriously, the quaility in imagry is on par with stuff that Pixar studios was putting out 20 years ago (despite the occasional AI fault showing, like motorcycles backing up under hard power, like a sportscar. or two left hands, or sometimes even three hands on a character. )

Not my style of music, but fun to watch, at least once. And the message in the lyrics IS a positive one,,, Just sayin’

Alright, thats about all I have tonight,,
Shit! Apologies. IF y’all hadn’t read comments. DO SEND SPUD AND HIS WIFE PRAYERS!!! She is need of such.

When you buy LEDs, resistors, capacitors etc… Buy the large variety pack. You’ll smoke some off in the initial power test. And you’ll also need to change some out for a different value for better performance. Just because the math ain’t exact. Also, you WILL smoke some stuff from a reversed diode. LEDs develop a lovely smoke color when powered with reverse polarity. And that stuff ain’t marked well. The ones I got weren’t polarity marked but one wire was longer than the other. And that sucks when you gotta cut the wire to fit the space… Nail polish is your friend for that stuff.
I was talking to a young (30ish) man that has a degree in computer science and can’t get hired because he’s a native caucasion not an H1B. So he went back to school for an electrical engineering degree. His take on AI is that it’s an investment bubble. Which is also what market-ticker.org has stated. And he’s provided anecdotal evidence. I guess we’ll see soon enough.

when I buy components, bulk pack is the only way to go. That ‘chip’ I bought was a pack of 10. Only ‘need’ one, but as you say, “Things get smoked!”. I’ve let that magic smoke out on a few occasions.
yeah, that young’un is finding out about how bad the “white male” is being treated in the great wide. I see more and more just strikingbout solo. Id imagine the Gent I purchased this controller from is in much the same boat.
things are imbalanced, they never stay that way long: the pendulum is set to backswing soon
