as in ME,,, I am,,, Must be,,,
LOL
Short day today. Made just enough to pay this weeks billings. Fortunately, I have some cash left over from last week with the whole bank card debacle that took place (and is still not 100% resolved as I haven’t rcvd the new card, yet.)
Well, when the cash gets strapped around here, I fall back to “make do”, and I had this beautiful new tire changer just sitting there in the shed looking like a lost puppy: all sad eyed, longing wistful plaintive whines and all.
And I had (note past tense) 5 tires and rims that needed stripped.
By the time I had rim 3 clear of rubber, my shorts (and the only danged thing I was wearing shy river shoes) were DRIPPING. I slipped once on a sweat puddle. By the time I had rim 5 clear of rubber, I just shut the doors to the shop, walked into the house, turned on shower and stepped in,,, no stripping me down, shorts and shoes and all,,,, As the sweat rinsed out of the shorts, they came off, but I wanted all of that UGH rinsed away.
Shower out of the way, shorts and shoes hanging to dry on porch line, and I locked up things, time to go get some Electrolytes. Water has been a constant, but theres more than water in sweat. BRB
Little projects around the homestead, Still need to move a downed tree before it becomes mushy rotted wood. Been so wet, with no apparent reprieve in the future, I haven’t been able to move it in the usual methods. I have to improvise. Gonna just cut it into shorter lengths so that little tractor can handle it. Thats later this eve or early tomorrow before the heats get up.
Little tractor needs a couple new (used, have on hand.) tires, and seat reattached, but those are easy peasy. The poor beasty has spent many a moon in weather and it took a toll on that seat, which left me on my backside when I was moving big chunks of Maple to the wood shed. Ended up chasing a tractor as this old beast has ZERO safeties built in. You fall off, she keeps a-goin’ (and good reason she has no mowing deck on her!) I’ve gotten pretty good at throwing her in neutral when things get shady: the recent event being an exception. (and future efforts may be modifying the belt drive so that it requires foot pressure to maintain motion. right now, its clutch/brake action.)
so many little projects, so little time, and only little ol’me to do it. Da and Unk useta be great help at helpin’, but both have gone down hill over the last year and are retiring. It does disturb me a bit, but not the loss of help. Its the watching them lose strength where they used to be powerhouses, and the slow deliberate movements now because the balance and body aren’t what they were. Seeing Da bruise up from the slightest breeze,,, the little things that say “Old and gettin’ close to that time” Makes a dude meloncholy as F! it do! And I’m not far behind them. Da is only 28 years my elder. Seems like a lifetime when you are kid, and ‘yesterday’ when you pass the 50 sumpin mark. I get the strangest feeling looking back on pictures and realizing that the Da in the pic was younger than I am now. So wyrd realizing that “now I’m older then he was then”. Paradoxical thoughts and feelings abound when looking back.
but, more to do yet, and yeah, gots the whole weekend, but time ain’t gonna wait for me to catch up. Y’all take care of yourselves, stay hydrated. Stay curious. Love y’all
