A woowoo poast?

Just a wee sumpin for the brainium to gnaw on.  Mines been at it all mornin’.

Full disclosure: I’m not 100% about what I am getting ready to write about.   A healthy dose of pessimism with an underlying spread of optimism to let me not outright discount such things.

It started with rain today.  Rained out, Son of Bossman came out at quarter after 9 with the slashing motion across his throat.  It was raining so hard, we had to yell to be heard over the rain on Tin-roof.   But my mind had already started churning on this thought.

Not sure where I heard it; I believe it was Greg Braidon (sp?) that told the story.   He lived in New Mexico and a Tribal Leader asked him if he wanted to attend a Rain Prayer.    They went off to some sacred place and the Elder told him, ‘envision standing in a cool rain, the smell of freshly wetted ground, the chill of it flowing over you, the sounds, as if it were happening here and now‘.    Now, I’m imagining he did just that, and when a short time had passed, they left for home.  On that trip, it started raining.  Then it started raining some more.  Then it started downpouring, and by the time they had returned home, the washes were roiling beasts of aquatic violence, bordering flash-flood levels.   And Greg asked the elder “How do we control the thing we asked for: this rain is way too much!” and the elder replied ‘well, we ask for it but have no control over how much or if its a benefit or a danger.”  (and I am admittedly paraphrasing here as its been some time since I heard the story.)

But think about that for a minute.   They prayed for rain by envisioning BEING IN RAIN.  Not asking for rain,  Not asking for relief from the drought, but by seeing themselves IN rain.    The woo-woo circles call this “manifesting”, and that an older culture practiced similar and swear by it tweaks my optimistic side.

The pessimist side says that the Elder had looked at weather reports and ‘played a game’ on Greg.

Which is right?   Does it matter?   Not really, not for what I’m proposing here.   This is just for grins and giggles, maybe.

What I’m proposing is this: With all the 24/7 immersion in negativity, distraction in commercial enterprises, and news items promoting surrender (in roundabout sorts of ways) to some new order; ‘the new normal’,,,   What if we are inadvertanty manifesting a future without intending to?   What if we were to change our own habits, AS A COUNTRY (yah, good luck that THAT) and start manifesting a better outlook and direction?

Seriously, I don’t know.  I DO know that what we are seeing, the directions being taken, the downright insanity of the days news, (which is skewed for such), maybe those things are by design  from people that don’t have our best interests at heart.

slight detour

Those of y’uns that have been around awhile know, My brain isn’t linear.  It’s more llke a Corkboard with item cards, and lots of colored strings running between them.

And despite the look on that caricatures face, I REVEL in the chaos of my mind.   Thats probably why I don’t handle the chaos of the world so well: my hands are already full of it.   (local chaos I handle just fine, its the world wide shit,,,)

(back on track)

Let me make another proposal, and I know this will fly like a lead lined glider,,, Say we all start the day saying grace of some sort.  Doesn’t need to be religious in context, it could be as simple as “Thank Universe for letting me breath atmo for another day, I’m gonna make it the best yet”   Then imagine YOU doing just that.  (the reason I know this will fly like a lead balloon is that I TRY, everyday, but there are days where the outside influences get overwhelming and knock that good vibe with right hook.)   I can’t say it will work, can’t say it won’t: but what could it hurt to try?

As to yer last ‘graph about the lead lined glider – meh, so fargin what! I can easily go along with the thought. Specially the end – “what could it hurt to try?” Indeed – what could it hurt being a bit optimistic?? That’s not so easily done nowadayz, is it?

    L’s!

    Y’all take care,
    Mike in FLA.
