Feeling something of an evolution happenin’

random thoughts out of nowhere, seeing obvious connections (obvious to me, seemingly I’m insane as no one around my local sees them.) and old equipmment falling out of the ceiling to remind me it exists.

I posted about the backstabbing of theUS by a small country.   Apparently the Narrative is stronger in those near me than it is in me: I recall the events that others swear never happened.   Mandela effect?   I think not; more like propaganda in full force.    Minitrue in Real Time.  Orwell was a prophet.

Random thoughts out of nowhere applies to writing.   Characters speaking out of turn “hey, this sounds like fun” (Tammy) or “How many joules does a 4Kg warhead of double base powder generate?” (Ted)

And while pondering math and seriously bad ‘fun’, a microphone dropped into my lap and I was sitting there looking at my Zoom Podtrak and studio mic,,,   So I went digging into the App Store (apple, not android) and yup,,, Still running with Audacity as they upgraded Garage Band again.  One more OS higher than what I am running current after my recent upgrade.    Always a day late, dollar short.   At least Audacity works for my needs.    There may be a spoken word ‘Cast upcoming.   I’m attempting to put something together that I can work with.   Writing is my better element IMO, But I did enjoy the efforts even if I didn’t like the transcribing thing.

But, that brought my random thoughts back around to Terry Pratchett (mayherestinpeace) and Dragon.    Well, I don’t have Dragon, but I have MacWhisper,,,, That auto transcribes spoken word.   Maybe I can give word writing an audible spin.   If I can keep Mama away from headbumping the microphone,,,, (that may be a learning curve thing too: MacWhisper might need trained for some of my phrases and euphemisms.

Future note to self: Next office space is KAT FREE!!!  No kitteh/dawgum doors for free-range access.   Sarah has Indy the explorer, in house engineer kat sans thumbs (presumably)    I has hormone laden Mama who wants in my face at the barest whisper or hum.  Dawg forbid I actually start singing.  She gets uptight thinking someone is killing her babies or something.   (not that I have a bad voice, its the harmonics that make her ears twitch, sending her into protect mode.) (and I tend to sing loud, that doesn’t help.)

Where is all this going?  The hell if I know.  Something is driving me to escape the rut, and that rut is “up at dawn, chase the dollars can to can’t, wash rinse repeat”.  Writing is nearly as much an escape as reading for me now.   I get so wrapped up in the story, I don’t see the letters flying onto the screen, I see the scene as if I were standing there, listening in.   Thats the same way I read: I don’t see the words, I see the scenes, hear the voices,

At least if its well written.  Technical stuff is just more technical, but I still envision or percieve the ideas.   Or Not, and thats when I re-read or dig into something vague for clarity.

I read an article today (sorry, deleted the link and can’t find again.) about some research into audible books vs dead trees and which encouraged learning better.   Two studies, one of which was a technical variation, the other used Fiction.   One said dead tree encouraged learning better (the technical study) the other said it was a flat-lined competition.

I personally feel its an individual thing.    I much prefer writtien words and retain so much more from them.  Audio files, unless music oriented, don’t stick the same way.   Maybe 50% retention.    I’ve always been more visual in that aspect even if some psychology study says that such is a myth.   Music hits different emotional points in my brain and is retained differently,   I think that is the more primitive communication method; one that could be evidenced by the Ancient Epics, that were likely SUNG, not spoken. (or chanted, rhythm being a neurological key for encoding memory.) (interesting note here: Reading words, I envision, but reading music, I can’t ‘hear it’. But I retain music by hearing, where I better retain words by reading. There may be something to that.)

Bah,,, I’m all over the damned place in thinks tonight.    I need a focal point to work with.   Books and characters and kittehs and train noises are proving to be distractions this eve.   Maybe tomorrow, I take a break, and take Lyssa to the local lake for some G&C with water and wildlife,,,,  Leave the phone and lappy behind for a few hours, no kittehs, no annoying coal trains rumbling through the valley (wet ground  propagates that sound and my house reverberates with it.). In other words,,, TAKE A BREAK!
