I joke with friends “I just want to simplify”, but thats sort of impossible as I am not really a simple person. Far too many moving parts (mostly neurons and synapses) and peices (knowledge skills and tools)
I posted earlier about feeling like Alice in the Looking glass and needing to shutter the world for a short time.
That led me to intropsection on “how do I WANT to carry forward” in this not real reality. Note; I didn’t say “need’ to carry forward. Thats a given, I don’t quit (an arguable point from personal perspective,,, I may ‘quit’ a job, but I don’t ‘quit’ living.)
Adaptation…
How to take what I have built, adapt it for something a little askew from the current course, and maybe find friendlier waters. Always a gamble, but I try to hedge my bets in this world. Thats the real challenge: Hedging that bet so when things shift even more, I can still keep moving forward.
I currently have BlooTwuck as my mobile work set up. Thats a good bet, as I am not anchored in place or for any one thing. So that setup isn’t likely to change (other than acquire more tooling or such. To a point; she only has so much interior space.)
I have my current digs called “homestead” and I think that is where things start getting a little uptight in my thinking. I don’t claim to like the area i am in, though I adore my setup. Set-ups can be moved. Moving them is gonna require “somewhere to move to” and thats my sticking point right now. Nuff said there. Current conditions of income aren’t conducive to such a move either.

And no, that system is not Capitolism in its purest form: its CORPORATISM backed by the force of Government(also called Oligarchy historically) . They are symbiot to each other. Like Censorship in the US. The government can’t really enact such, but their Corporate side CAN. violations of the Fourth Amendment? Flock Cameras, protected by Property laws, but Hey, Government isn’t spying on you >snark<
How does one navigate the world where enterprenuership is quickly swallowed up by corporate interests. I could give you many examples, like a soda company that offers healtier options, gets popular, to be bought by a Corp, and then the version gets “modified for profit” and is not as healthy anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand the process quite well. Like some meme I saw ripping on Elon Musk; how he isn’t an inventor, or producer of products. The whole meme was to undermine his real worth (not monetary) of being the bullshit artist that gets CAPITOL to where it can do really big things.
Read that again. it was not a slur.
Think about it. Had he not bullshitted the electric car thing back in the Twenty-Aughts, the whole industry would still be sitting in the garages of tinkerers, farting around with clonky battery systems and hodgepodge charging options. No, he didn’t design or build any of that by his-self, but had he not put the spurs in, sold it UP,,,, But the world saw what he did and started to copy him. We now have a plethora of electric vehicles to choose from if we desire.
Same thing with SpaceX. He didn’t design the Raptor Engines. He set the parameters, provided the capitol, was willing to accept unplanned Dismantling in research, and PUSHED. Now we see 12 story booster rockets returning to earth on their own power and being caught by the tower for quick turnaround. Maybe its not refined to reliable states, yet, but the man pushed an industry to do this, in less than 20 years. All while NASA lolligagged and waffled and grifted taxpayer money for DECADES and couldn’t get off the drawing board since the death of the Shuttles.
Yes, its an extreme example of Capitalism, but essentially the ENTIRE point of it. And corporate interests Fuck that up. It goes from INNOVATE to PROFIT and entropy kicks in. Or, as we have seen, PROFIT becomes “what politicians do we need to buy to protect our interests and keep the competition at bay?” (And yes, I am quite aware of the dichotomy of my outlook here. I bring it up in the second to last paragraph.)
Competition is a good thing, despite the feel good attitudes against it these days. Looking over at SpaceX again, thier competition is not as much in country as out. China and India are showing signs of being close or closer to achieving some of SpaceX’s goals (Moon landings and build up) I would bet, all the mergers and capitol shifting Elon is currently in process with is to get SpaceX ahead of the competition, not just “Profit” minded. (Note: I don’t think Elon gives a rats ass about profit, I think his drive is more etheral: Curiosity, what can we do today, that makes Tomorrow a better place? And thats a good thing: just look at how many millionaire janitors and techs he recently made. I pray they emulate thier mentor and keep pushing the Curiouser aspects.)
Whats around the next bend?
Isn’t that always the question, even (especially) in the timid and quisling types. Whats around the next bend, what fun is the world gonna drop in my lap today,,,,
Outlook is everything. Shift the outlook to positivity and the outcomes become positive and the positive reinforces itself. I’m so trying to practice this preaching, truly I am. I look to Elon as a guide in this case. His actions tell me that, despite not being THE innovator of the things his name is attached to, Had he NOT existed, those things would still be sitting in limbo, un-discovered and not challenging the world to grow. His outlook is positive, he applies the things he knows to what is undiscovered and grows entire industries the original innovators never imagined, and in the process makes people much better off around him. Like those Janitors and Techs at SpaceX that are now worth MILLIONS. His drive UPLIFTED people around him.
And anyone that sees that as a negative needs to have thier head examined. (or thier jealousy and envy needs some self examination)
Concentrated capital is a force multiplier, and society’s problem is that it multiplies whatever the wielder actually wants, and we’ve built no filter for selecting which wielders get the multiplier. But to create that filter opens up a pandora’s box, doesn’t it? Thats a box that Karl Marx and others stood on and built ideas counter to true capitalism. And enforcing those filters breeds the beast of Corporàtism/Oligarchy.
Whats around the next bend? Do we watch the envious wall in the curious? Do we watch Oligarchy twist the levers and destroy that which built them and us, bringing on the next endarkenment? Do the Politcians and Generals get thier wish for another world war? Or do we encourage Curious Cats to keep bootstrapping us UP in our evolution?
