#1 #8 #4 that order,,, as in firing order,,, thats whats done. Set up for #3 now, but haven’t started pulling anything there. Doing this slow and methodical,,, Check the tension on the pushrod, pull the rocker arms, pull the spring/keepers, replace the old seal, reverse march,,, Put things back to where I found them, checking that tension by feel, so no scientific method here, just artistry of a sort. May not be right, but hey, I wasn’t planning on putting those covers back on until I did running adjustment on her. Just get it close enough for now and make it RIGHT on the tail end of things. (for what its worth, I COULD push through and have things done a couple of hours,,, its not hard. I’m just taking my time, piddlin’ so to speak, and not letting things get my gruff,,, start feeling frustrated: walk away, do sumpin’ else for a bit.)
And it’s rainin’ today. Not that that would slow me up, though I may hold off. Domestics today too. not cold, but certainly chilly out there.
Dunno which of y’all out in the spheres sent me that little ear-wig thats runnin’ in me head currently, but thankee,,, Kinda needed the reminder that ‘this too shall pass’ and that getting in a tizzy over little shit only prolongs the agony.
bills have been paid(for the month), battery bank is full, water supply is at overflow stage, chili in a pot on the stove staying warm (slow simmer that only makes it better) I’m upright n breathin, the kids have food and are healthy little bastaches, roof over me head, and a family that cares deeply,,,

Prolly by choice too, but I digress,,,,

Yes, indeed – you’re a VERY rich dude. I’d like to think there’s a few of us out in the wild. I’ve come to the conclusion meself that the “take it for granted” thing is a HUGELY important idea. All too many of us do take a lot of important things and folk fer granted, and likely don’t even realize it. Guilty, I are, but I do change that as soon as I realize it. It do help!
Ya got the right idea with the frustration thing, too. Best way to handle it, fer sure.
I know it might sound odd (apologies if’n yer already aware of this), but when doing those springs and keepers (and any valvetrain parts), it’s best to keep ’em separated, and put ’em back in the exact spot from whence they came. They do wear differently (not hugely different, but different all the same). Good thinks goin yer way!🍺🥂

Doing exactly that with the springs keepers. One at a time, not one set at a time. Everything is put back together on ONE valve before I move to the next. Can’t mix em up if they cant get mixed. LOL and doing it by firing order, the valves are fully closed so resetting the lash should be damned close, No oil pressure to keep the lifters filled, but I am not cranking down on anything, just enough that the rods stop spinning easy between my fingers.
and NO RUSH,,,,(except on the soundsystem) easy-peasy does it. She will be running again here soon enough, and she has no demands on her to make me rush right now. Gotz enough fubars going on in other realms of my little world (docs and a F!ed up medical system here’bouts for example)
