postin’ a nuthin’burger

Other than doing the J.O.B. yesterday, which was a shop day in a subzero freezer, makin’ cuddles with a deisel fueled torpedo heater,,,, I use it mostly to keep the welder warm since she gets flakey when temps drop below 40; and those temps were in the mid twenties until around noon. It helps to be able to prop your toesies on the cart and get them warmed back up, but it DOES NOT heat the shop up, TRUST ME,,,,

spent the day building some oddballs that needed ready to haul out today,, and those pedestals for the Gate motors I have yet to install,

but I did delay and resolve my issues with the one that is ready to be hooked up. Ain’t gonna sweat it and when the thing goes “POW! pop sprang” and the magic smoke starts rolling out of the case, I am ready for the finger pointing to be begin and I’ll be saying ” I tried to tell ya, You fuckers wouldn’t listen!” and I am also ready to be surprised as well,,, IF it works, surprised I will be and take it on the chin as a learning experiance,,, I of course have my doubts on that one,,,,,

as for swapping out the reduction drive, thats a no-go,,, first off, don’t have any, second off, those cost, like A LOT, and bosssman is trying to squeeze this rutabaga of all he can get, not lose his ass, so ‘more money’ is not a solution that will fly,,,, just sayin’ There is also a propietary sensor on the backside of that reduction drive that I am pretty certain I would not be able to swap over to the new drive, and it is how the computer senses where the gate is in travel so it cuts power at the short ends to stop motion. I’m a good MacGuyver, I could probably come up with something, but there comes a time where even MacGuyver has to question ‘Is it worth it?’ The other side of that coin: how much ‘rednecking’ can you get away with before the CLIENT starts to question your motives,,, So I have some ‘internal/external’ politics to contend with too,,,, (there is a Maintenance man on site that likes to come out and shoot the shit with us when I am working, and he is observant as all get out. He is most likely the one that will start some ball rolling on ‘units too small, won’t do the deed’ to the administator,, Said admin is already looking at this gate and making noize, and thats part of my issue with it as well.)

nothing new going on out there that I feel needs posted, not really. Saw where the house of illREPute voted pretty solidly that we were going to go to war with Iran,,, something like 356:53 FOR,,,, of course thats just one side of the machine, may not make it through the second side, but I ain’t holdin’ my breath. so they wanna kick off WW3,,, Seems that ball is already rolling, at least to me anyway, and I can tell you, this country ain’t ready in any way. We have a tiny fraction of our production capability that we had going into WW2, and a ramp up is highly improbable since we sold most of the machines to China at firesale prices back in the 80’s and 90’s. Driving between Here and ‘Bama back a few months, I saw more abandoned “old skool’ factories shuttered and falling down, some of which you could see into and there is NOTHING,,,, just empty shells, turning to rust and rubble. You don’t bounce back from that without serious investment and oh, yeah, WE’S BROKE!!!!,,,, And certain administrations castrated our abilities by regulating the hell out of certain industries,,, Like steel works, lead mines, and taxing the piss out of those they couldn’t regulate, and in doing so, forcing the companies to move offshore (and why Taiwan is THE chip maker of the world now,,,, and why China wants it back, in a very bad way.)

Dumb doesn’t even begin to describe what I think about our current leadershit pretend. The Hyrdocephalic gorillas I get to work with have more sense, both common and economic,,, they may be continously broke, but when the money is gone, they don’t go running up debts that can never be repaid.

anywhooos,,,, time to go back to the J.O.B. today, finish working in the deep freeze, building the last of those pedestals,,, Ride the lightning MIG welder and plasma torch day, gonna be cutting 5mm plate for the top deck of them. At least when its cold like this, I can take my time and not feel guilty about it; gotta keep the digits unfroze or I can’t do anything at all,,, Laters,,,,,
