The Name(ing process)

New boat, needs name,,, Suggestiong of “Big Red” offered up by Mike.

No offense intended Mike, a bit obvious, I was wanting something unique.

SO, Boats made in 1989, NOT a rotomolded boat, but another of the blown mold types (Tough as NAILS boats,,, ask any Prijon owner,,,)

1989 The year I gave up on college and joined the Marines.

1989: the year I realized I needed away from Wifey and joined the Marines (kind of harsh getaway, but it worked and gave me my spine back.)

1989: My Daughter turned 2 that year, went from schootching around on her back (she never crawled) to walking in one afternoon.   Her first words that weren’t baby-babble. Her RED Hair really flamed up, as well as matching attitude.

So,,, No, I am not naming the boat after my daughter, but I wanted something from that time frame as Reference.  So, I dug into popular tunes of that time with a chicks name in it (lots of ’em) and chose one that means something to me, means something entirely different in translation but works in both cases.

RIO

after the Duran Duran Hit

The Spanish word for RIVER

(not my favorite DD tune though, but I found it fitting in this case)

She will get Christened at a later date, when I am on water, with friends and I will make sure to bring a beer just for her.
