That’s my dads new to him ride. Compliments of B and Fam. Needed repaired, a couple four holes under the seat area near the scupper holes, but hey, I’s a welder,,,,
Yes, you can weld plastic. Its closer to what you would do with brazing or soldering, but cooler temps.
I need to modify the seat it came with for my Da, but I took it out for a spin to make sure my repairs were tight and would hold. Those scupper holes in the pan will get an ass wet, especially if you plop down fast. LOL. Gotta say, its fun boat to piddle around in. Not my normal cup of tea, but being able to just toss it in the water and grab a paddle means, to me, FUN. No wild gear like skirts Yes the water was cold, but tolerable enough that as I was paddling, I had my feet draped over the sides for several minutes and they didn’t go numb. My ass was wet and I didn’t get chilled, and I had about a half hour out there just being a goofball.
It’s rather like paddling a pancake,,, But tracks pretty good for a pancake. Will spin in place like a high rockered WW boat, but I wouldn’t want to take it in anything over class 2minus. (no thigh straps to hold you in). I didn’t, but I know people that will stand on these like a SUP board, and as stable as it is, I probably could. Da? I would rather he didn’t try, but he will want to use it for fishing so there may be a day where he does,,, Dunno.
And he seems interested,,,, In my and my sibs world, his showing any interest means he is ‘excited’ about it. Something different to play with, and he loves fishing in colder waters; doesn’t like the taste of warm water fish. And he has always like being able to get off shore to fish, just doesn’t like hauling around his johnboat anymore. And this moves so much easier than a rowed johnboat; on water and off.
Anything to help get him out of the house and moving around enjoying life,,,,
And that last sentence is all there is to enjoying retirement. To enjoy the time we have after we have stopped being someone else’s and just enjoying idle time.
