Even now, when we are seeing shelves depleted, we are in a state of abundance that rivals that of the 50’s through the 70’s of the last century. I like the way Matt Ridley puts in his book “The Rational Optimist”, (I’ll paraphrase it since I don’t have permission to excerpt it.). Average Joe Blow can enjoy the meals that would have dressed the tables of The Sun King (LouisXIV) for less than said king would have paid. Mr. Average has (and is part of) and army of people providing services to other so that we can enjoy the fruits of our labors like no other generation before us.
EVEN NOW. We may be feeling the cracks opening up, and things coming apart, but we still have that abundant harvest out there that we all partake of daily. I live simple, but the meals I eat are not the meals that my great grandparents did because we have choices they didn’t.
I don’t like Bezos, but can you say that Amazon hasn’t tossed that ‘scarcity mindset’ towards the dumpster fire. Maybe its still hanging around, but its not the prevalent beast it once was. We can order literally ANYTHING online and have it dropped shipped to our doors, in exchange for a simulacrum of our time (Currencies).
That abundance was created by two things. Cheap energy, and Faith in Credit. Credit is losing the battle with all the inflationary practices of our World leaders pretend. And the cheap energy has taken a hit, but not because of the whole peak oil thing that people keep bringing to the party (that has been put off time and time again, rather like Malthus’ predictions of eating the Irish,,, (I probably attributed a statement wrongly, but you get my point.). )
Even now, with all the turmoil and angst that is burbling to the surface of the world in times of uncertainty, I am looking at how I can grow. Maybe not a full fledged business, but something. I am working on the writing, (and this is part of that) but I also keep considering emulation of a known business model here locally. I haven’t figured out the details of that yet, but I have an idea and I have reason to believe it would work. No hints other than that. I want to hang on to things until they gel or evaporate.
WE have to hang on to those things that make this all possible; Life Liberty and Property. Sorry, I hate that Jefferson was corralled into using that ‘pursuit of happiness’ crap, his original form was “property”. it was the New Englanders that argued to remove that word (even then, Progressives had to work their poison.). (I sometimes wonder where this country would be today IF that word hadn’t been removed,,, May be a story in there,,, hmmmm).
Even now, with all the crap-ass legislation and regulation and taxation, there are still signs of life in free-market principles. Bad products don’t last long. I know among my friends, that looking into the reviews of products they are interested in takes place BEFORE they ever hit that ‘buy now’ button. And they shop the same way locally,,, If you can sample something, you will, if you like it, you will buy it. If its a turd dressed up in floof, the smell will warn you ‘this is a turd’ and you WON’T buy it, or IF you do and figure out its a turd, you will let EVERYONE you know, KNOW, and the product dies a death it deserves.
We live in abundant times, and the PTB want to kill that. They want to be the top of the heap despite their prostrations stating ‘Equality, Equity and Diversity”. I see those words and start wheedling for the facts because the words are meaningless dross on a melting pot of insanity.

Good day today. Didn’t really have a lot of redtape to jump through, and my DL will be in sometime this week. Didn’t have to repay either.
Weather is perking up a bit during the daylight hours but still cold as soon as Ol’ Sol is over the horizon. And My weekend is wide open for whatever I choose to do,,,,
Mostly its choices. Blue Jean or Lizzy, This lake or that,,, Camp overnight or just piddle,,,, And right now, its looking like no matter what choices I make, its going to be solo. *sigh*
