Woke up this morning to a very excited kitteh, and no clue as to why,,, Grizz bouncing off the headboard, my head, ‘mrowrr, k-blert, SKeeeK! blert” (he has some very unKat-like language,,,) Went ahead with my morning routines of coffee, stoking the fire, getting my gnarly grizzled self ready to face the world and more potential harridans of questionable sanity.
Walked out to start Buffalo so she isn’t ice cold when I head out and
‘Are you fuckin’ kiddin’ me?”
IT’S FLIPPING SNOWING!!!
Middle of October and its snowing good enough that I can’t make out the ridgelines over the hills. Just flurries, but STILL,,,,

The Gorebalwarmenist’s can still kiss my narrow white ass though. ITS CALLED WEATHER and the last time we had a wicked winter was 10 years ago, when I was in Indy and the temps dropped to minus ranges and stayed there for two weeks. (while I was living in an RV,,, brrrrrrrr!)
10 years, 11 year solar cycles, give or take,
ITS CALLED WEATHER,,,, Don’t like it, stick around a bit; it’ll change.
My only gripe (other than the fact that I like snow about as much as I like my Ex-wife) is the speed at which this winter is approaching. My body is still acclimated to Kentucky Summer, with the heat and humidity that hints at needing scuba gear to get to your car.
BUT, one good note: as fast as this has came on, THE BUGS are getting obliterated. BUGS as in Skeeters, ticks and fleas. all the little bloodsuckers that live in the woods surrounding my house, that either hitch rides in (KATS!!!) or fly in. This level of cold snap knocks their levels down fast. (and if we have a good three weeks of solid freeze your tuckus off cold, the ticks will struggle to make a come back next year. They have been horrid the last three years.)
Made it out at the J.O.B. to get some work finished up, two jobs completed today. woohoo. Gonna be lean times for a bit, as work tempo has slowed considerably with the season and Economic environment. Temps never climbed higher than 40 degrees, and the snow has been off-n-on all day, but not enough to stick, nor is the ground actually cold enough to let it. looks like a damp day at best on the ground.
And the Weather Liars are saying that we will have mid Seventies all weekend, with cold nights.
That kind of weather gets people sick. up down up down, wet and cold to hot and dry, back to freeze your schnoz off nights. Usual precautions are in place and supplemental alcohol on hand as needed.
*sigh*. sometimes I think the bears have the right of it. Sleep through all the nasty season,,,
