Not too shabby actually,,, with my phone plan, I get 5 GB of mobile hotspot. I’ve been burning it up the last week with the onset of cold weather. This morning, the message came down from Corporate world that I had used up my my 5gigs and I could get more by refilling my plan ‘right now’, or waiting for my rollover date. Sigh, don’t wanna refill ‘right now’ and change up my schedule/budget,,,,
What I learned though, streaming vids does burn it up, but not near as fast as I expected. And I was streaming to both the Mac and Ipad at times. I like to compare videos side by side, especially when they are on alternate sources (youtube/cackle etc) or two vids of the same event, from separate POVs. The Mac is not capable of multiple vid playing (that I am aware of, AND, it gets bloody hot playing one,,,)
So I’m considering getting the mobile hotspot with the 20GB plan. And reducing the size of what I purchase for the phone. It will be more $ a month, but would make life at home more convenient. Not needing to leave the phone out on the porch to reach decent signal would be a bonus. (Especially with dual sign in BS that seems to have taken the interwebz by storm. Can we start using BLOCKchain sign in people,,, oh, my bad, thats bottom up securtiy, Can’t have that in a totalitarian world, can we?)
Just thinking ’bout it right now, weighing pros and cons.
Update: made the buy. Plans run two months and I’ll drop my phone service down one tier, and my budget won’t take a beating. The tiers are mostly data oriented, and if I have ‘wi-fi’ at home, I need less data coverage on the phone. Will still have 10GB of data on the plan and thats way more than I use under normal usage (IE, I’m not streaming vids for hours on end,,,,) now, to see how well the setup works longer term.
