Saturdays chill sessions

And damned if that water wasnt chilly.

Didn’t go wild or anything, just some roll session and paddled around checking out the wildlife.

More getting my mind cleared and shedding stress from my muscles,,, and soul.

This was part of it

Fast spurt of 5.2 when getting away from the crazy jetskiers. The rest was as leisurely as could be. Moving average of 3.2 is a nice speed to see the herons and sneak up on sleeping Cats. Both the fishy kind and the furry kind. There is a bay on this lake that has an old Bobcat that loves to sun himself on the beach. Its just out of the way enough that the boaters don’t go there much, and a kayak is quiet enough to get within a few yards of shore before his ears perk up and I show on his radar.

One of these days I’ll get a picture of him. So far no luck. Camera out and cat goes ‘POOF!’

But, I did get some rolls in as mentioned.

Yes Nic, THAT is a full roll. And I’m picking up a bad habit with Ghost. (Betcha Bruce spots it) She is so easy to roll, even that bad habit doesn’t stop it. I need to some time in the Jefe and get my form back.

I did have a disappointment though. I took Duh!kee with me. I intended to get some roll practice in with her too. All the different boats I have been in over the last year, I just could not find my fit in her. Feet all goofy feeling, hips out of place, etc. And when I set up for the hipsnap, I couldn’t. It may be that all the boats I have been rolling are super snug and Duhk is loose; but that hipsnap I was doing in her last year up and disappeared on me.

I didn’t want to add more stress to my week so I just pulled out of the water and went back to the truck for Ghost.

Maybe I need to spend an entire week working the Duh!k instead if the Jefe. Bad form is bad form, and Duh!k seems intolerant of it, where Ghost doesn’t give a damn.

  1. Don’t sweat the roll. Believe it or not it will come and go, randomly, and it usually goes when you think, (I’ve got this) but it will come back, just be patient, CALM most importantly, and continue to practice. I’ve had times I couldn’t roll no matter what I was in. Then times it hit so easy I wondered, “s%&#…. wait.. I’m upright”

    1. You were up early!!! LOL.
I keep playing with it and not just because I want to get better at it, but because it REALLY does help my anxiety issues I developed. Went out on open before attempting the roll and could Not Get relaxed, rolled a couple times and every thing was just dandy. Waves were a joy and the flat (where I start tensing up; dont ask me, doesnt make sense) was no issue.
I think I need to put Duh!k on the horses for a bit and work on outfitting. She was not at all comfortable and seeing how she was made to fit ME,,,, I know she hasnt changed, so its again in my lap. Rule one: if ya wanna improve, you have to commit.
