As for what the Gnostics believed about the NT,,,

The Gnostics absolutely LOVED Jesus (or more appropriately, YESHUAH, Issa in Greek Texts.)

Another point.  Yeshuah did NOT come to start a religion, but to tear all of the existing one’s DOWN.   He and SOURCE found them profane.  How many times, even in the KJV, CEV and others, does the Christ say “the kingdom is within you”?    Reason, We ALL have a spark of the source within us, therefor, we only need to recognize it and cherish it to achieve ‘heaven’.   

There are so many points that could be nitpicked here, but the main point being, The Gnostics didn’t see a need for CHURCHES, or Priests; only teachers (which is all Yeshuah ever claimed to be.  “So this is the King, the King of the Jew? ”  “so say you” being his response, not a claim.) .   

Gnostic texts, like the Book of Thomas, or the Book of Mary* (truly enlightening even if half of it is missing) show, in what is my opinion, far better the teachings of Yeshuah, how they could easily mirror those of Buddhism, or Hinduism about how this world is made, with creatures of spirit trapped in physical bodies, learning the lessons to ascend this reality into higher realms; reincarnating repeatedly until such time as the spirit DOES learn the “trick”.    Buddha called it Nirvana. (kinda sorta,,, Nirvana in Buddhism is acheivable in life: its a liberated state of mind.)

The whole idea is to break the cycle of rebirth and re-join the SOURCE.   This ‘goal’ is the same in Buddhism, and Hinduism.   This is why I believe that Yeshuah traveled EAST during his missing 18 years.  Evidence exists in BOTH directions, east/west. BUT he would have been exposed to both Hinduism and Buddhism had he traveled the silk road east (and it was in existence then.) 

*Book of Mary: Mary Magdelene.  Modern churches paint her as a former prostitute.  No where in the texts is this a point.  She was initially inhabited by demons and Yeshuah drove them out.   In the Gnostic texts, She is one of the disciples, a KEY disciple at that, and its alluded that she is also Yeshuahs WIFE.   Both points are tags against her in the Church, which didn’t allow women to hold positions of power, nor allowed the preists to marry.   Just for those two points, the Book of Mary would have been ‘erased’, let alone the content that she is attributed with in the book.
