Welcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.

So what DID the Gnostics believe?    A lot, but not mainstream, so to speak.   10 levels of Heaven for one, but that gets convoluted and deep, much deeper than I feel up to for this page.    Entire tomes have been written, and can be checked over if you really want to deep dive.

BUT, I can give a synopsis of sorts.    So here goes.

For one, Yeshuah NEVER claims the God of the OT, Yehwah, as his father.  In his own words, he claims the SOURCE as his father, and the Gnostics even show “Christ” as one of the Spirits that split off from the SOURCE in the beginning.  Sophia would be his sister if this is true.

In the beginning, there was SOURCE, Unknown to itself, pure energy.   the Source began splitting into smaller forms (never losing its original form) and these ‘beings’ would breed or split to create others.   Each split reduced in power, but still quite powerful.

One of the beings, Sophia, created the DemiUrge, and found it lacking and corrupted, so tossed it into the void.   Said DemiUrge, untrained, with no memory of anything prior to itself, created the Material universe, claiming it as it’s kingdom.

Much of the Texts of the ancients deal with that Creation.  Some even recognize the higher powers such as SOURCE and Sophia, maybe under different terms, but the descriptions are so similar as to avoid contest.

Here is where the Gnostics truly differed from Modernized Christianity (post-Council of Nicea)   THEY, the Gnostics, firmly believed that “God” was actually the great deciever, AKA, The Devil.   (note; I am not using the names of Satan, or Lucifer, as those names DO have a place in the OT and NT in all translations, and THEY are not that of the Devil.   Satan means “accuser” and in the OT, Satan is a position, not a person,  much like a prosecutor in modern courts systems.  A satan works for GOD as that very thing.     Lucifer on the other hand is NOT the name of a fallen Angel, but a taunt at a Babylonian King.   Various translations have rendered the original into new form and modern clergy have ran with it .

Pull quote from the nets

The name “Lucifer” arises in the Old Testament in Isaiah 14, where it appears in the King James Version (KJV) translation of the Hebrew word helel, meaning “morning star” or “shining one”. The term is not a proper name in the original Hebrew but was adopted from the Latin Vulgate translation, where the Latin word lucifer, meaning “light-bearer” or “morning star” (referring to the planet Venus), was used to translate the Hebrew helel. This Latin term was later incorporated into English translations, most notably the KJV, leading to the common association of “Lucifer” with the devil, although the original context of Isaiah 14 is a taunt against the king of Babylon, not a direct reference to Satan.

So, the Gnostics believed that ‘God’ was the devil and the SOURCE is the true GOD, creator of everything.   Why that scenario?   Because of the “drunken abusive father” that ‘God’ exhibited, including creating man ‘in his image’ by stealing spirits from above and inprisoning them in this place for all time.   Essentially stating that “HERE” is the hell we fear, and heaven must be achieved through actions and lifestyles that help a person break the chains holding them here.

Sorta sounds like what Buddhism teaches too,,,

Their evidence is written, some of which I already touched on in the garden of Eden story.  The lack of Omnipotence, the deceptions to his creations, the anger issues, etc etc.

They also believed that “we are GOD” since our spark is a part of the SOURCE: individual, but not separate from.   Not GOD in entirity, but Collectively, we all are GOD.

This is something I touched on with my theory of our quantum selves; that our physical form here on earth is an avatar of our quantum self, and that each and everyone one of us is a part of the much bigger cloud (SOURCE).   When a majority of the avatars are aligned in thinking clearly, the world starts to reach torwards ‘heaven’.  When the collective is more infected or ill in mind, we start falling towards that ‘hell on earth’.     Look around you: that theory explains quite a bit, doesn’t it?

Our biggest ‘sin’ is in forgetting that we are all connected: Everything is connected through that spark of SOURCE.   In many Gnostic texts, that is THE ONLY SIN; forgetting that you are a representative of SOURCE, still connected to everything around you, acting as independent of ALL.

Let me back up a few places: God=Devil in Gnosticism, yet there are THREE other religions that still run with ‘God’ as the creator, right?   Christianity, Judaism, and Islam (though they use “Allah”, same meaning, different name.)   The God of Gnostic texts, The DemiUrge, loved a bloody sacrifice! The bloodier the better by all accounts, even so far as Burning Virgin girls at the stake.   That leads me to a question to ponder for my readers here.

“If the God of the Old Testament, The Qu’ran, and Tanach, is THE DEVIL: Wouldn’t that explain much about WHY so many people have died over the last 3000 years in religious wars?”

I’ll just leave this page right there for your introspection.
