Dio's WorkshopWelcome to my brain. It’s messy. It’s interesting. And it’s all connected if you stick around long enough. "Believe Nothing: no matter who said it, even if I have said it, except it agree with your own reason and common sense. Siddhartha Guatamo, the Buddha.
My biggest thing ‘wrong‘ with it, is how it sounds JUST LIKE something some soyboi would be saying, just before he (it?) walked into a certain bar of genderquestionable bend.\
Grow a pair!!!
Moisturized?!?!? Man, my ‘moisturizer’ resembles 10w30 most days,,, this last year really seems to be 85-90, but same point,,,, Scrub up with some kerosene followed by some Dawn to get the real ick and thats that,,,, Don’t like it, too bad, so sad.
Yah, I ain’t gonna link the various memes: you’ve all seen ’em, they tend to pop up all over the place,,,, same saying different images,,,, Can we just kill that damned meme CA? its stoopid and annoying as F!!!!
Made it out of house, but no work today since 60% of Emps at J.O.B. are down with the grubbies I have been fighting. (and I can almost hear the condemnations now,,,, Bastach got us ALL sick!!!!)
So at the ‘stead, taking care of me, took a power nap (been doing A LOT of that lately,,,) and now, working on the porch, swappin’ out rotted timber for good. The high humidity of this area and that damned algea that grows on anything that sits still for five minutes; I have a few boards that are feeling ‘squishy’.
and its getting my lame butt out in the sun and warm air (gonna hit 60+today,,,)
And I am good for about 5 minutes before I am doubled over hackin’,,,,,
Persistence. This bug certainly is,,,, SO STICK TO THE PLAN ,,,, Burn this shit out of the system. Sunlight,,, its obvious the bug doesn’t like it,,, get some,,,,
ordered some Ivermectin yesterday,,, should be here soon. I’m hoping this shit will be licked by then, but from all accounts of others that have had it,,, Seems 3=4 weeks is the usual, and thats WITH antibiotics to kick it around.
Good news though,,, I’ve lost 8lbs,,,, Between burning fevers and zero appetite,,,,,Drinking lots of liquids but eats have been rather lean and usually ‘eat something you fool!’ induced by willpower.
My only hope is that what I am losing is ‘extra’ and not muscle mass.
Spring is right around the corner though; I can start to put the muscle back on soon enough. I could smell the water while out this morning and that drove me about bonkers,,, With current physical conditions though,,,, yah, I know better than pushing certain limits. No desire to be hospital bound,,,,
anywhooos,,,, gotta get back out in this sun and keep doing my body some good, as well as my porch,,,,,
Still coughin’ up green loogies,,, Not that y’all wanted to know that or anything,
I am feeling better, but still the occasional drop to my knees hack up a lung fest going on,,, Prolly not the best thing for me to be outnaboot in this cold weather. Weather liars are saying its supposed to warm up (and in their defense, it does look like it might,) but right now its 20sumpin out there and just walking out to the truck had me hackin’gaggin’near-pukin’,,,,
hard pass on making the ducks today,,, Need it, but not at the expense of health,,,,
Not much to add to thoughts on the world so have some memes
and one from BCE in love for his Jarhead brethern,,,, IE ME!
crapola in me lungs is starting to break up finally, guessin’ the immune system found the right combination of assault chemicals against the current invaders.
I see a parallel think here,,, with ‘real world’ stoopidity ,,,,
not goin’ down that road for a minute. need to break away from that all together since I think what got my current system all a-wonk was my stress levels of what was going on ‘IRL’ but not ‘imrl’ (in my real life).
and of course, exposure,,, I don’t get out much, and when some new buggy gets brought around, I am fair certain to come down with it. UGH!
lots of thoughts over the last nights struggles to sleep while clear lungs and not crap myself hacking up my diaphragm,,, Sure felt that way, and my abs are NOT happy,,,, rather like I went all day doing planks and sit-ups. Good point though; I don’t feel like I am breathing through clogged P100 filters today,,, Lots of thoughts,,,
Thinking I may start a seperate blog, one dedicated to the philosophical stuff, no kayaks, no politics, more the “Jewel, Sword, Mirror” type stuff. Wouldn’t be daily updates or anything, more long winded too.
Anywhooos,,, just a thought at this point. All perpertrated by a memory of a character from Nick Coles Soda-pop Soldier series; Perfect Question. What a name, huh? Read the series and it makes perfect sense,,,(apologies, couldn’t resist) (I re-opened the Warlord book because the memory tells me ‘I missed sumpin’ kind of important, and related to why I am considering a seperate blog,,,)

Yeah,,, I must be feelin’ better,,, tummy is grumpin’ about ’empties!!! feeds me Seymour!!!!‘,,,,, Guess I need to get on that,,,, then off to the domestics and keep sluggin’ my way through these strange times we currently inhabit.
I love old tech,,, Love the old Southbend lathes over some of the more modern (And sometimes, more accurate,,,,) lathes. May be the romantic in me,,,
maybe I’m just old skool,,,,
and then I find nuggets like this’un
That there is over 120 year old tech, sorta complex by modern standards, but then, everything on it is ANALOG,,, (other than the charge controller that was added for the modern battery bank) Watch the vid, Jay even tells us that, other than remaking a cover,(porous aluminum, a common problem up into the 70’s) the engine is COMPLETELY ORIGINAL,,, over 120 years old original: just cleaned up and resealed.
If this world want to go all electric, they are barking at the wrong cat. Hybrid would be the way to go. Engines are most efficient at set rpms, emissions are much easier cleaned in a finite range of temps, Electric motors are TORQUE MONSTERS and torque is what gets things moving.
And I ain’t gonna lie, my brain has been fantisizing over how to convert Buffalo to hybrid. ($$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 😦 ) Like a little 3 banger turbo diesel running a 4k genny to power the actual mover,,, direct drive to differential or even dually motor direct drive wheels. yeah,,, money money money,,,,,
BUT IT AIN’T NEW IS THE POINT! Even in that Vid, Jay says that electric vehicles were more common than the gas versions, until Ford came along and undercut EVERYTHING,,,, (His wife drove electric because no gears to change,,,,)
This isn’t new thinks to me. I started researching all electric back long ago, even have a few books on it from BEFORE Tesla was a thing,,, Worked on a few hybrids as well when I was still turnin’ wrench and why I know all about those “Orange cables” that you don’t wanna mess with if you don’t know much about ‘lectric,,,, maybe not, even if you do,,,,
What I do know: the whole wanting to turn our shipping fleets all electric is just flat stoopid,,, (looking at you Gruesome!) First off, look at modern rail transport,,, those engines are ELECTRIC TRACTION MOTORS powered by giant diesel generators (HYBRID!!). They work great, but think about how much they pull on those tiny steel rails. A pair of engines can haul kilotons(mega?) of frieght long distances for micro dribbles of fuel, but to get that load moving takes JUICE!!! LOTS OF JUICE,,, That shit don’t fly in stop-go traffic situations. To fubar that system by conversion to ‘all electric’ will shutter many business models, not just some unconfirmed mythology called climate change.
While we await Shipstones technology to come to reality, we have options available to us,,, ONE: go hybrid for those areas where DISTANCE and LOAD are factors,,, raise the efficiency of the fuel engines to maximum peaks. (there are physical limits to be sure, but we aren’t really all that close to them currently) Not to save the climate, but to conserve resources for longer,,, I don’t totally buy the ‘peak oil’ arguments, but that large reserves are getting thin is undeniable. (look how many have come back ‘online’ after setting for a decade or two,,,, It DOES happen.) TWO: let the ‘townies’ use the electrics for the 3 minute jaunt to the stores. Most gas powered engines don’t get warm enough to be fully efficient in the short jumps most people use them for. I can’t tell you how many engines we ‘cleaned’ during tune-ups and what the intakes looked like using inspection cameras; coal mines aren’t that dark,,, (exaggerated, but man, they were BLACK!!!) In those ‘close to home’ scenarios, electric makes sense. Here locally, in town, a lot of townies use golf carts for scooting around, keep ’em plugged in when not in use and they have the range to hit several points over several hours and can easily move a fam of four and a load of groceries,,,, (weather permitting with open cockpits,,,)
For us out in the sticks,,,, hybrid would make sense,,, the convenience of a fillup, with the torque of electric for power, no need to tie into a grid to charge things, and in a pinch, can plug the car into the house for power when the grid does go down,,,,
It just blows my mind how old the ideas are,,, Tesla, (the man, not the company) was onto things that we should have ran with,,, I can’t even imagine where we would be today, if this had taken off. (though the peak oil thing, that I don’t buy, would be an unknown IMO.)
as for the whole renewables argument, these past two years, that has taken a serious hit when myth impacted reality,,, Europe has been closing wind farms and reactivating turbine generation facilties. I don’t know how many Nuke plants they have planned, but they don’t have the resistance to those that these shores have. The Nordstream incident woke up A LOT of people to what really makes things tick, and people LIKE having power on demand, not rolling brownouts, or freezing their tuckus’es off when old man winter comes calling.
The Narrative is dying, its doing a lot of damage on the way out, but people are seeing REALITY and that gives me hope that our current troubles are of limited duration.
And maybe some of our solutions are located back in the past, like that 120 year old automobile above .
not a statement of certain thinks in the world, I woke up with wyrd thoughts,,,,
When I was a wee bain, my grands moved to Phoenix AZ, I don’t recall ever meeting them prior, and for years they lived in Hawaii,
They made that move because GranDa had allergy issues from hell (thanks, I know his issues,,,) and was developing Ol’Arthur: the normalized heat and lo-humidity made his life much more bearable.
Starting to think a similar move is in order for this aging carcass. The swelling in my hands and the constant ‘Ugh!’ my upper respritory has been doing,,,
such as right now,,,, Right paw has swollen thumb root that makes using my hand as a whole near impossible. Full use of the extended digits, but loss of that (currently non-opposible) offshoot means it responds more like a fin, than a hand. And the pain is creeping up the Radius (?) bone, feeling like potential carpal tunnel.
And I know when the warm weather comes back in a couple days, it will subside,,,, always does,,, Till then, compression bandages with capzasin and tigerbalm applied seems to help. Keeps the swelling down which is what causes most of the pain. (and believe me, it can be intense enough that I eyeball that hatchet and think, ‘just take the fuckin’ thing OFF,,,’ don’t wanna do that as my operating hand would be my southpaw and not as coordinated,, might miss and really fug it up. But the temptation is there.)
Years of using impacts, power drills, and torquing tools, (and trying my hand at slap bass,,,) have destroyed that thumb/wrist junction. I get the ol’arthur in other parts as well, but that one area REALLY takes center stage; the others are just annoying,,,
(more coffee)
Cold out today (sore thumb, DUH!) and there is a scattering of snow on the ground. Hopefully the last of the season. No plans today, left wide-open for me so that I can focus on getting BETTER. Bought a new fifth yesterday while out, medicinal purposes, and today, its near half,,,, Seems to have done some good. Didn’t do the the ‘float in my own sweat’ I was looking for, but ‘better’. If I have that ‘sweat it out’, this thing will be kicked good and solid.
Back to the move thing though,,,, IF I were to move, not saying how or when or,,,, It would need be near water, open water, not just some rivers and ponds. Which is funny, by signs (Virgo) I am an earth type, but I have the calling for water,,,, I guess my ‘element’ is mud,,,, Not that I put any creedance in that crap, but it was fun to learn long ago,,, and makes for some crazy convo when you find someone that swears by it,,,(and side note; I am a welder and play with casting metals, so there is the element of fire in my life too,,, hmmm??) SO, I have been looking way south, but thinking about GULF coastal stuff. Yeah, the humidity thing is there, but I have been there and the molds and fungi tend to be much lower levels; those are what drive my sinuses into overdrive, which leads to other problems lower down. Sorry guys of FlorA-Duh!,,, Been there too, and that area turns the spigots of snot wide open. (And Cinsin-nasty did even worse than this area,,, ALWAYS fighting off some bug when there. and why my grans split when they had the chance,,,,)(yes, I know which side the majority of my genetic code came from,,, Tells me load about my future too,)
The couple of years I lived in Sand Dawg area (north county) I was only miserable during El Nino: La Nina was easy-peasy. The rest of the time was like never knowing sinus issues. I kinda miss that,,, NOT the area, that place went left and down and never looked back. BUT the comfort of not spending mad amounts on sinus suppressants and phlegm reliefs,,,,, (and I really miss the corner taco stands: buy a carne asada burrito for $5, big enough to eat on for two days . Yah, it may have been chihuahau or stray cat for meat, but damned tasty!!!)
scene one block from my apartment in O-side. sigh!!!!
And oh, how I miss the beaches,,,far more ways I miss them than just ‘beach’ : surf, sun, seabreezes, even storms coming in were a delight (first time I saw a water spout was in SandDawg,,, Way cool!)
and FRESH FISH!!! loves me seafoods,,,,
sigh,,,,,
Maybe when the world economy implodes, I can buy a cheap place on the beach with brute force and goodlooks,,,ROFLMAO,,, yeah, right,,,
Yup,,, this poast is all pipedream and wistful thinks,,, missing a portion of my past and thinking,
and hurtin’,,,, this damned paw
think I need to put the keyboard away for a minute and let this paw chillout.
Took today off from the J.O.B. Physically needed the rest, financially shouldn’t have done it, but if you don’t have your health, you have nothing….
but the warmths are creepin’ in, saw two spots near the house where the easter lilies are near bloom stage,,,, When I see those bright spots of yellow in the landscape, my outlook will do a one-eighty, u-betcha!
Still so damned disgusted by things in the great wide, I don’t wanna invest a single moment on it. And its not like i didn’t ‘know’,,, I have been saying for years “Government is THE problem” just seeing the lies and grift from both sides, so blatant,,,,
Years ago, before I moved here, I had a friend, female sort, who worked for State: last time I talked to her, about 2015, her words were short and simple, “GET OUT”,,, We has a little exchange of texts after that but the gist never changed. She is no longer in the US; took her money and ran.
try that now,,,,

Won’t be attempting any kayak-y love this week. Temps are down, not that that would stop me with a drysuit, but my health is down. Don’t wanna push things over edges hard to climb back from. I don’t bounce back like I useta, and respiratory issues can escalate fast-like.
I need the spirtual break, YES: I don’t need to be hospitalized with pneumonia. And I sure as shit don’t trust our medical complex these days. Rather take my chances talking to like-minded health providers and ordering fish antibiotics,,,,
IT’S NOT EVEN BEEN TWENTY FUCKIN’ YEARS!!! This world has flipped over and spun itself inside out!!! From that day in 2008 when I rode my 10spd into work, saw that black man holding the sign ‘we are finally free’; to this chaotic, can’t trust the Pillars of our society, and can expect to be robbed, beaten, and left for dead by the Enforcers,,,,
“Fundamentally change the united states” A pox on that house and ALL that thought that was a good thing,,,,
It was the early part of the Tweens when the political divisions of the United States reached irreconcilable differences. Ted, a burnt out computer programmer, and Jim, a double amputee combat vet, reverse engineer the pentagons drone program and create a rebel air force. While traveling the country helping others defend what is left of the country, they run afoul a most evil woman intent on creating a serfdom within the country.
