Easter day, solo paddle

Again, not much in mileage, but that I am out at all,,,,
Yeah, GOODNESS THINGS.
Wind was down quite a bit from yesterday, but this was a different lake as well. Took Lyssa out (and found my leak that I have been chasing,,, Bloody Skeg control!)
as you can see, I really didn’t do any pushing, not for speed. BUT, I did some pushing for non-stop paddling. There are only two stops I made (to look at a campsite possibility) and the rest was go-go-go,,, I need to build the muscle back up before I start pushing for long speed. Even so, I am impressed that Lyssa is still a half mile per hour faster than BlueJean, CONSISTENTLY.
and being Easter Sunday, that lake was MINE!!! Didn’t see anyone on the water, and only a couple of lone fishermen on the banks.
Both of my gurls are flying on Buffalo currrently and I think I am going to leave that setup for awhile. All of the gear from one fits the other, so there is no change in what I carry inside Buff,,,
and who knows,,, maybe I’ll bump into someone that wants to try it out, and I will have the gear. Yes, I keep more than one PFD and paddle on hand, And I wouldn’t put a newb in a sit-in kayak with a skirt,,, They have enough to worry about without trying to figure out a wet exit in capsize,,, easier to ‘fall out’ if no skirt in place.
and in the meantime, I have a choice in boats to play in,,,,
Good weekend, relaxed like I can’t even describe, got H2O time in, TWICE, and the weather is FRILLIN’ AMAZING! House is wide open letting this wonderful weather in and the smells of spring with it. Kids is running around like they have been in lockdown for months (they haven’t, but I get the energy they are feeling right now.)

Goo-gaw was it blowin!!! High teens steady, gusting to mid twenties. Paddled about 4 miles, and there were no Lee’s to tuck into, all over the place,
And I needed it.
Glad I brought BJ and maybe a little disappointed at the same time. Bj is my wild water boat, but she is not meant for winds: high profile to let the wind get grabby. She has 3″ freeboard exposed at her gunwales and a tall deck as well, fore and aft. She is my barge boat because she has the volume to “haul it all” but empty; that volume makes her an aircraft carrier in a typhoon,,,

DID go in, DID get some work in, not much mind you, Had to pull the Ground and Hot cables from one of our wayward Mules (work truck) Been giving me fits, first a whacked out Alternator, then started doing this funky cold medina thing and leaving me stranded in places: that one sorted out to a bad battery (warranty as the supplier was having issues on many batteries at that time) and then I put a new starter in it. Whuddent dat,,,
so, when Dio hits the ‘I dunno’ point, he hits the books,,, in this case, Internet crawls looking for thing. Four different forums had one “Ah-HA!” highlight for me: battery cable.
and this morning, took one of my jumper cables from my battery bank here at the house (extra, I am running a slightly smaller pack than I did 8 years back) and ran it between the battery and the (new) starter. She fired up three times in a row, with no chance for the alternator to kick in and recharge the battery. Seeing how yesterday eve, FULL battery, and all you could hear was that selenoid kicking and occasional groan as the starter tried pushing the crank over.
Pull the cables, both hot and ground since we are going to have new ones made up, and then

Go pay the car insurance, get my mop of a head trimmed down to reasonable and acceptable appearances (thanks Kilgore, you do damned fine work,,, ) and then spent the first part of the afternoon reflecthing old arrows. I’ve been putting in practice a bit lately while out walking the poop factory: the stumps are showing it too. And so were my fletchings. I run real turkey feather fletchings, and they were looking a bit wore and shaggy (about like my head today before the barbers,)
And I am gonna have to get a mess more of them,,,, Down to a half dozen left,,, don’t need them often but when I do, I don’t want to wait for turkey season to beg wing feathers from the hunters. (though they do give them up with little, if any, hesitation.) Not much on turkey hunting meself, but those wing feathers are gold for a bowhunter (traditional long/recurve/asiatic etc)
The only downside to hunting stumps in the eves,,, Grizz does NOT like the bow,,, That ‘fwhippp!’ and sudden thunk totally destroys that boys good vibes,,,,, So he has stopped going with Voo and I if I have ‘that stick’ in hand. No bow, heres the Grizz,,, bow, no Grizz. He’s no dummie,,, he knows that noise means something is getting hurt,,, May only be a stump, but that something could be whatever,,, And he is gonna make sure that he is as far from that scene as possible.

I’m gonna cast my vote, hope it holds, and hope that the Cheat is taking a break for the nonce,,, I know better than thinking ‘this is over’, those that run this KlownKar won’t be out of power, not by a long shot and I don’t think ANYONE could oust them at this stage. Only full on collapse of the economy and Infrastructure would ‘set things right’ IMO. Take away ALL POWER, the power of money, the electric, the information controls,,,,, all of it, and those that are in power will starve and die.

We have been under a burn ban for a week, despite the recent rains. Humidity has been hovering in the 20-30% range for a week and shit is DRY,,, BONE DRY,,, slowing down our springing Sprung spring a touch,,, The redbuds are abloomin’ and I noted that the Dogwood at the end of my drive will be in full bloom for Easter,,, (imagine that, if you know the myth behind the dogwood, it will mean something. If ya don’t, tell me in comments and I will post it up here. It’s kinda cool.) I’ll post this up as soon as I have a signal, but I think I have said enough tonight. Tomorrow is kayaky day,, taking Bluejean out and just gonna get some miles in, not pushing speed, just a ‘Mindwork’ paddle: get me head on straight. Woke up feeling the ‘Ugh’s’, almost hang-over type ughs, but I was good and hadn’t been drinkin’,,, Must be the molds and pollens of the springtime funs outside. Even my eyeballs feel slimed,,,
And I find I have nothing to say about much of anything. That ship meets bridge thing,,, For all intents and purposes, appears to be a complete accident, and there are some out there saying it was industrial sabotage by bad actors, but I ain’t buying that line this time around. One utoobie posted up a vid where he compared the GPS track to the vid, side by side like, and you can see exactly what it looked like from on high: a ship losing power and becoming adrift in a high current river with winds. Those big boats don’t ‘just stop’ when power is lost, and they have zero control, and 10000 metric tons MASS is going to do A LOT of damage when it is impacts anything.
IMHO, this is just a big “OOPS!”, though there are going to be serious echos of problems for years to come in the area,,,
But people are really good at adapting, so long as some others are willing to ‘look the other way’ when needed.
