Why is it, that when the weather patterns resemble the surface of the sun, we get Ball Feild Jobs? Seriously, this is the third summer in a row that I can recall working out in open feilds with ZERO shade (short of climbing under a truck) and 100+ temps.

And I was soaked to my hips by 10 am. Even the tops of my thighs were wet with sweat, and no breeze to speak of until around 2, as we were packing out,done, headed home.

sigh,,,, Its the J.O.B.

And then I get this in my inbox. SCOTUS just gave the keys to Padoras box away.

And I laughed as I read it. Not that it was funny, but that its quite obvious to me now, that there is a beyond a conspiracy to tear this country down from the inside out. And this on the week following an Army of Euros crying the KUDOS of our nation and telling their friends back home “don’t believe the media hype: AMERICA IS COOL!!!”

But some group, groups, factions, ideologue, whatever, truly HATES this country, its limping Representative Government, and FREEDOM in general, and wants it to fail so they, whomever they are, can “Build back Better”,,,,

Good Gawd, as if!?!?! Most of those in charge of this mess have never worked a day in the private sector and couldn’t build a BigMac with video instruction assistance, let alone a business model that actually works (without kickbacks and fraud, that is.)

So I laugh, outloud, disturbing sleepy HOT katz and pupper, and laugh some more.

I love my country,

I DESPISE the Gooberment we have been saddled with since the shifts in 1865.

And the Bureaucrats-R-Us behind the scenes at every damned level of it all. The ones that write the ‘rules’ with no real world knowledge, or a buddy with a business that needs a boost.

And sadly, this scenario may as well be a solid NATURAL law, the way history shows it. growth breeds complacency,breeds graft and decline, and eventually FAIL. Glubb may as well have been a damned prophet.

So I laugh as I watch the obvious and can do not a thing to stop. Screaming from the walls does nothing, and I ain’t quite at the point of shooting them in the face yet. Probably never will be as there are just too damned many that think all of this is “just fine”.

5 things you need to add to your prep list. Won’t cost you a single penny either.

1. the ability to sit with your own thoughts for 30 minutes or more, no distractions (no phone, tv or radio)
2. Knowing ONE skill that helps feed someone. Be it keeping farm equipment alive or foraging natural sources,,,
3. People who know your name, your abilities, and have gained your trust.(goes both ways)
4. Knowledge without dependence on Nets. (dead trees work, if you have the space)
5. Faith that has been tested and stood.

One thought that has been going round and round in my head. Persistent Knowledge. The one biggest problem we have with history is how little was actually retained. So much lost into the void of time, never to be recovered. We guess from what little we can glean from what remains, but we DO NOT KNOW. Our modern world is so precariously balanced on HUGE amounts of data, but whats actually recoverable if things go south? If its not written/printed out, NOTHING. And even the written/printed stuff has a shelf life. (especially with our acid pulp papers) The hubris with which we live as if we will never die or that our knowledge is solid and persistant doesn’t hold up against the crucible of history. (Heck, I have a thumb drive, from just a few years back that I can’t access because the data became corrupted somehow. And formats change almost as fast as data hubs grow. )

Is anyone making an effort to codify even a portion of what we know, our languages, our dictionaries, our histories as we see them, in some permanent and tangible form? Like paper thin sheets of Titanium, laser etched with micro fiche level informations.

We sent a golden record to the stars, but what have we retained for our future selves?

Probably nothing at all. (not 100% true, there is the Heirloom Seed Vault in the arctic. but thats not about ‘us‘ in particular,,,,)

So I laugh,,,

(No, I don’t think we are, without a doubt at that catastrophic point in societal collapse, but you never know. And not knowing is why us preppers prep. But I see no preparations for projecting our knowledge forward in some permanent persistent and tangible way.)
