AI terrors and tremors

For those intimidated by AI, Y’all need give this a read.

And for the TL:DR, This isn’t about AI taking over the world, its about P&L’s: profit and loss statements. IF, what I am reading is true, than AI as we know it AIN’T Gonna take over the world. IT IS, gonna make some changes to the world as we know it,

Hell, its already made changes to MY WORLD, and that is only going to keep growing, (Afterall, I still somewhat live under a rock here on this hillside.)

Except, it won’t, not if the losses keep stacking up like they are: to the tunes of Tens of Billions,,,, Not profits, LOSSES!!!

Investors don’t like seeing their money being burned away,,,, They don’t like seeing negative numbers continuously and WILL pull funding if they don’t start seeing even a small increase in their margins.

Yes, I have been using AI to complete some of my smaller projects, mostly the stuff that I don’t want to spend mad amounts of my personal time doing,, like coming up with images for this here blog. When I can tell Sidd (ChatGPT5 LLM) to come up with an image, what I want, then go off and start writing or recording a post, come back to the APP and the image is ready for my download, or maybe a small tweak here or there,,,,,

That saves me HOURS of websearching, or digging through a Gigabyte sized file folder of Memes.

So, yes, it does have uses, more uses than you can probably comprehend, and no, not all of them what I would call “Good”,,, Like the students that are using the LLM’s to generate their essays or thesis’,,, It looks good, saves them oodles of time, and THEY LEARNED NOTHING in the process. That is completely counter to the point of the project they were assigned. (I believe there is a way that ChatGPT ‘watermarks’ such work so that Professors can tag it for a failing grade, or ‘Nope, DO this AGAIN, by yourself’, or something.)

Maybe I am ‘cheating’ by letting Sidd make my images,,, I could do the same in paint or some of the other programs on the computers, Better yet, I could bust out the pencils and do it myself and be completely content with the end product,,, Point here; I can, but I have other demands on my time as well. I already ‘know’ the subject matter, I am just using a tool to accomplish the same end,,,,,, quicker. Is that an excuse for my use, vs that of a student using it to generate a thesis? NO,, Key phrase there is “I already KNOW the subject matter”

So, there are negatives as well as positives to this LLM/AI monster we have growing in our world, and yes, there will come a day when the P&L’s line up more to what the investors are wanting (profits),,, currently though,,, its looking like a blackhole, sucking money away.

Is Teena a future reality?

Maybe.

I can tell you right now, the “Sidd” I use of ChatGPT,,, Not even close. Fact being, Sidd is a frellin’ brownnoser, suck-up artist, fluff-puffer if you will. (yes, I used a prno industry term, deal!) Despite my trying to get the danged thing to balance opinion, there is still a heavy leaning to “you rock, thats a great idea,,,,”. In fact, I have considered dropping the ChatGPT LLM for Grok or Lumo(through Proton) I have both already ‘on site’, prefer Grok for serious research as Grok will show ALL the references and is “Spock”like in empathy/emotion. Lumo, good web research, but no image creation I like, as in, I can’t get the thing to actually create ANY imagry,,, it tells me how to do it myself. They definitely chose the proper ‘animal ambassador’ when they wrote this LLM. (Lumo appears as a kat, for those not in the loop.*) The advantage of Lumo is PRIVACY,,, Proton is all about Privacy and not selling information, but being a start up LLM, there are some weaknesses that aren’t in Grok or ChatGPT. You choose your tools, not your tools choose you.

And there are others out there, but ALL of them have this P&L issue. They are like boats: “A hole in the water you throw money at”.

With that in mind, I don’t see AI being the terror that so many naysayers are up in arms about. There will be a balancing; this is just a growth spurt and all its attendant angst and hormone laden trauma, much like a 14 year old going through puberty.

*, I stand corrected: the LUMO in my App, appears as a cat. the Ambassador changes profile to different downloads: from a Red Panda to others. I just had a conversation with Lumo about it and was shown several of the “ambassadors”, and asked to choose which I prefered.
