7 hours!!!!
in contrast, one of my regular(written) posts takes 30 minutes to an hour (or so) to ‘produce’, depending on wordcount/visual content, including final read-through/edits. I write from the hip, but speaking from the hip: not so much. LOL It was, there were no scripts and after my initial ‘mind-map’ was tossed on the trashheap (about 30 seconds in) it went all over the daggum place,,, Not too badly, I hope.
I am getting much more comfortable with “HOW” I sound in playback. More able to focus on WHAT, instead of HOW, and thats huge. I still have that Cincy drawl, but I don’t think I can ever get rid of that. At least it isn’t Appalachian ‘talking through a mouthful of marbles’ speech. I did catch a couple of times where the local dialect tried to slip in: what can I say, I’ve lived and worked here for 17 years now; there will be some ‘mission creep’ in my psyche/speech. I still stick out like a mashed toe in public when I open my mouth though. I still get the ‘Y’ain’t fro’round here, isya??” on a weekly basis,,,
NOPE, ah shur ain’t!!! (I recall the first time here, at a restuarant, and the waitress asked if wanted ICE in my drink: her words sounded like she said ASS and I swear, I stumbled, tripping over my own tongue on how to answer that question and not lose face.)
Looking back on yesterday, how much effort I put in on this, I am going to keep it to a once a week thing. I mean, I put in nearly a full days work effort for a 20 minute, give or take a few seconds, post. If I were actually at work, that wouldn’t be possible of course, and the J.O.B. does pay me, whereas this,,, So far, its a cost,,,
Or maybe I should consider that “INVESTMENT”,,, will see. and I don’t walk away from investments before they’re proven liability or asset. I hang on to tools over the years despite thier not making me money in the idle times,,, this needs considered in the same frame of mind. On a side note,,, I LOVE technology,,, I bought a pair of BlueTooth headphones. This pair can handle two BT connections simultaneously. One is the Macbook, the other the phone. I was in an edit session when a phone call came in, and I didn’t have to swap things around. just hit pause on the Mac, and I was taking the phone call. Now, that could end up being ‘distracting’ during a high energy rant or something, but at the time, I was in edit mode, so no problem. It was still nice to not be chasing through apps and hardware to take a call, even if it wasn’t all that important,,, The only downside for what I am doing: these don’t have ‘real time’ monitoring ability,,, I tried to ‘active solo’, but the time lag was around 500msec and that,,,, no,,, that doesn’t work,,,,
More laters,,, if you have a subject matter you would like to HEAR about, let me know in comments; I’d love to have some input to work with.
